Bernie Sanders draws big crowd, Tlaib endorsement in Detroit

snip

"We need a new vision for American and that's what our campaign is about," he said. "The most important and significant opposition we face .. is the limitation to our imaginations.

The rally ended a long day for Sanders, touring Detroit with Tlaib, who dubbed the very deliberately chosen spots as the "Corporate Greed" tour of the city.

Bernie has always been able to draw rally crowds. Nothing suggests he’s regained any political support.

“I don’t think you would find many bankers or lawyers with those haircuts,” said Anne Kreamer, the author of “Going Gray: What I Learned About Beauty, Sex, Work, Motherhood, Authenticity and Everything Else That Really Matters.” “It’s a mark of individualism: ‘We are not of the ordinary rank and file.’ It marks considerable self confidence.”

Kristen M. Barber, an assistant professor of sociology at Southern Illinois University, Carbondale, sees evidence of class status. “There is a sign there that you are not worried about being judged,” said Ms. Barber, the author of “Styling Masculinity: Gender, Class and Inequality in the Men’s Grooming Industry.”

These men have the privilege of not caring,” she said. “The idea is that they’re too smart and busy. It almost becomes symbolic of how dedicated they are to their art and their science.”

there will be no new vision. So gaining the power to fix problems and create advances at the same time must come first.

In their collective wisdom, our electorates often choose to "balance" power, such as giving Obama a rabidly hostile Republicans in both houses of congress to block everything he wanted to do. And Obama was a moderate progressive liberal with views that appealed to a good majority.

Sanders is extremely unlikely to become president because he's not; but if he did, the electorate would virtually certainly choose to keep him from going too far by reelecting McConnell and company, and adding to them. That he won't be president is still a plus, though. Unlike candidates who are out of work when they drop out, Sanders will continue to serve in the senate and can lead his colleagues toward a new vision from the seat of great power.
