John Harwood: Can you do everything that you think needs to be done while hitting only the wealthy? Or is there no rational plan for dealing with our fiscal challenges, as well as our economic challenges, that doesnt also hit the middle class?
Pete Buttigieg: If were going to collect revenue from the middle class, then we have to be certain that it is going to be reinvested and returned to the middle class in a way that makes us and the middle class better off. So as a middle class taxpayer, I dont mind paying a certain amount in if its going to come back to me in the form of health care, if its going to come back to me in the form of education for my kids, if its going to come back to me in the form of a better road to get me to my job.
