"I'm Willing to Fight for Someone I Don't Know": Sanders Speech Becomes Viral Rallying Cry

Sen. Bernie Sanders' closing remarks during his event with Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez in Queens on Saturday became a viral rallying cry for supporters of the 2020 Democratic presidential hopeful over the weekend as thousands of social media users promised to be "willing to fight for someone I don't know."

"Are you willing to fight for that person who you don't even know as much as you're willing to fight for yourself?" Sanders asked the crowd of over 26,000 who gathered at Queensbridge Park in Long Island City to hear the senator, Ocasio-Cortez, and others speak. An overflow crowd of an additional 5,000 people were reportedly listening to the event from outside of the park.

"Senator Bernie Sanders is the only candidate that has built a movement, and continues to build a movement, that transcends gender, ethnicity, religion," said Omar. "And we know that in order to tak on Trump, we're going to need a unifier, someone who understands what the fight looks like and someone who is ready to defeat him."

(snip)

The future with a Sanders presidency, Omar added, is one where the U.S. could potentially live up to its promise.

"There was an America that I dreamed about," Omar said. "There is an America that most people believe in. It is an ideal. It's not a reality yet."

But going viral is not as important as it is made out. Two months ago going on Joe Rogan was supposed to catapult him but now he's polling behind Buttigieg in Iowa.

...yes, we need to beat trump but we need to beat trump with a strong Progressive...

...what have we accomplished if we beat trump only to end where we were before?

...where can we go if we keep driving the same tired, worn-out, broken down vehicle?

...we need an infusion of NEW!...we need to BEAT trump then give our nation the rebirth it deserves and longs for...

...yes, we need to BEAT trump, but we need to BEAT trump with BERNIE

The AA and POC communities are completely rejecting his rhetoric. They see them as empty and unrealistic promises... aka, "pandering".

All I'm pointing out is this: if BS can't rally the support of the AA and POC communities, then he has ZERO chance of being our party's nominee. He may as well drop out now and put the money to some more productive endeavor. Or just return to one of his three beautiful houses with and concentrate on his health.

even people who are not American and not on this continent and those who won't be borne for generations.

I'm glad that Bernie is seeing beyond the factory worker but its not a new direction for the Democratic party, caring for the future has been part of the Democratic ideal for as long as I've been alive.

I know!! Right??

This has got to be one of the most desperate "rally cries" from any campaign that I've ever heard. Any campaign that needs to (tries to) motivate and encourage support by pointing out the obvious... well... let's just say that campaign is in bad shape.
