Strange phrase by Warren about cost of Medicare for all

This phrase is being aired again and again when pundits talk about how Warren handled the cost of Medicare for all.

WARREN: So I have made clear what my principles are here, and that is costs will go up for the wealthy and for big corporations, and for hard-working middle-class families, costs will go down.

I am not an English maven, far from it, but when she adds the middle class it appears as it cost will go up for the wealthy and for big corporation and for hard working middle class families.

One has to wait for the end of the sentence to realize that she says costs will go down for the middle class.

Yes, later she said:

Costs are going to go up for the wealthy. They're going to go up for big corporations. They will not go up for middle-class families.

Also: So my view on this, and what I have committed to, is costs will go down for hardworking, middle-class families.

Just wondering

primary today, I would vote for:
Joe Biden

There are two separate phrases in the sentence. Look at the comma after corporations as a semi-colon and it makes perfect sense. Or consider it as two separate sentences.

"So I have made clear what my principles are here, and that is costs will go up for the wealthy and for big corporations; and for hard-working middle-class families, costs will go down."

Medicare For All Who Want It

IOW

give people the choice

IOW

the public option

Which, btw is going to take massive, herculean-level heavy lifting to get passed in Congress as Big Healthcare, Big Insurance, and Big Pharma will spend 100's of millions to fight even that, fight like their very long term survival depends on it (in some cases, especially some of Big Insurance, which it does.).

Straight MFA with the complete (or near complete) phaseout of all private insurance is a massive election loser and will never get passed with a MASSIVE re-alignment of the entire Congress.

When speaking, pauses and tempo make what she is saying very clear.

But you make a valid point, the text of that could be clearer to be more effective when read. A simple substitution of "but hard working middle class families" would be more effective.

....costs will go down for hardworking, middle-class families.

Too many qualifiers, and too vague overall.

What constitutes "hardworking middle-class" families? Is that different from just "middle-class" families? And as noted by someone else, no mention of poor families.

It would be so much easier and clearer to just say how much it's going to cost overall and who pays what.

I don’t like the idea of pitting people against people.

If we reduce income inequality and reduce the cost of health care so that we have universal affordable health care there is no need to create more division.

I think the motive for single payer for some is hate for wealthy and hate for profit making and not so much for universal care.

...but the sentiments and motivation you suspect don't apply to me, and I honestly doubt it's true for very many people. I know a large number of people who - like myself - are fairly radical egalitarians and in favor of single payer, and your hypothesis doesn't apply to even one of them. I can expand on this if you want to know what I and my friends and acquaintances actually think.

Even if she had a real plan with costs included, she still has to guarantee that that Congress will pass it without changes.

And guarantee that the opposition will not blast about tax increases 24 hours a day, making it
less likely she'll get the chance.

They wrote:

They should have written:

So I have made clear what my principles are here, and that is costs will go up for the wealthy and for big corporations. And for hard-working middle-class families, costs will go down.

Change a comma to a period, as she clearly intended, and there is no conflict with what she later says:

Costs are going to go up for the wealthy. They're going to go up for big corporations. They will not go up for middle-class families.
