Democratic Primaries
Related: About this forumWith a couple of notable exceptions, all of the Democratic candidates
for the Presidential nomination are smart, honorable people who could do the job of President very well. I will proudly vote for whichever one ends up as the Democratic nominee. That doesn't mean that I don't have a preference among them. That preference is displayed at the bottom of this and every other post I make on this forum.
That I have a preference does not mean that I think any of the candidates currently polling in double digits would not make a good President. I have no doubt that any of them will advance the course of progressivism. All of them would do that. The details of that advancement might differ, but all have the best interests of this nation at heart. My preference is based on who I believe has the best chance of winning next November.
It is important that we all recognize that each of our leading candidates is a suitable choice to be the Democratic nominee. Each, if nominated, deserves our full support and assistance in becoming President after the convention.
I am suspicious of anyone who says otherwise. I will continue to be suspicious of anyone who says otherwise.
We must not make the mistake, as voters, that we did in 2016, with some of us staying away from the polls or voting for a third-party candidate who had no chance of winning. We have all seen what has happened since then.

(10,130 posts)I think the Democratic Party is blessed to have so many talented, good human beings running for the leadership of the party.
Looking at the 2016 GOP candidates, I certainly got nowhere close to the same feelings that they were ethical, intent on upholding the constitution, had compassion and integrity and were not owned by the 1%.
I've looked at the Democratic debate stage and roster of candidates with pride. I may not agree with them on every issue but fundamentally, they seem like a much better class of people to represent what the country needs.

(1,836 posts)I mean I do have a favorite, I also have a few second tier favorites who I would be so excited to vote for, and a few meh to me candidates I would rather not have to vote for but would in a heartbeat... and even a few candidates I flat out do not like- but Id enthusiastically vote for in a heartbeat. Whatever, whoever it takes to end this national nightmare.
