Democratic Primaries
Related: About this forumBiden Seeks to Keep Presidential Air as He Picks Away at Warren
Joe Biden isnt giving up his front-runner mantle without a fight, refusing to acknowledge that Elizabeth Warren has met him at the top of the 2020 Democratic field and moving to take her on directly on the campaign trail.
Her rise -- she now meets or surpasses him in key state and national polls -- has raised questions about whether he can still campaign as the only candidate who can beat President Donald Trump.
While insisting the No. 1 slot is still his, his tactics have shifted, beginning in Tuesdays Democratic debate. He called Warren ridiculous in her refusal to spell out how shed pay for the $30 trillion Medicare for All program and suggested she is a foreign-policy novice for calling for the withdrawal of all U.S. troops from the Middle East.
He is leaning heavily into appearing presidential. His events are designed more for the Rose Garden than for an Iowa community center, with a schedule heavy on formal speeches targeting President Donald Trump and fundraisers on the coasts. His remarks include frequent mentions of former President Barack Obama and hours spent in the White House Situation Room.

(67,782 posts)....every state through March 3 except AL, TN, AR, MN, and UT. Here's the delegate tally (give or take a few):
Biden - 671
Warren - 370
Sanders - 281
This includes the huge states of California and Texas. He'll get 48.6% of the delegates in those states!

(67,782 posts)...they included five states that I excluded because there are no polls available from which to estimate.
The states I included are: ME, NH, VT, MA,VA, NC, SC, OK, TX, IA, CO, NV, CA
The states I excluded are: AL,TN, AR, MN, UT
As of now, pending a few scattered District delegates, only Bide, Warren, and Sanders qualify for delegates.

(68,674 posts)nominate Warren and we lose...many here have lost site of the purpose of the election...remove Trump. She has my vote but I say she loses the EC and wins the popular vote and maybe we lose the house too...sure I will vote for her in a general... I even like her but she is not the nominee we need in 20.

(67,782 posts)...in the RCP averages (which until a few weeks ago has been the "gold standard" for years) to a 5.8% lead, 29.2% to 23.4%.
Everyone is trying to bury Biden even while he's drawing away. Someone elsewhere this morning was talking about "when he drops out", which is laughable!

But in a showdown, he won and showed that he is the one to go at it with trump. He won't back down.
