Warren has skirted the issue up until tonight. But the questions are not going away. I didn't listen to the post-debate interview but from what I read, Warren pretty much wedded herself to Medicare 4 All. If that's the case and the pivot that Harry Reid predicted doesn't come before Iowa, she will not be competitive for a General.

those in programs that vest are lucky, but the benefits are in lieu of better pay. These are not
bad plans either—no deductible, have a max out of pocket for drugs, drug costs mere dollars for prescriptions, yes pay cancer care, all screenings, even pay emergency and urgent care overseas.

The employer pays a significant portion of the inflated price of insurance premiums. That cost is considered a part of employee compensation. It has a dollar value. The same goes for employer contributions to pensions and social security. The more money the employer agrees to spend on benefits, the less the employer is willing or able to spend on wages.

which I am sure she does not intend to do. Maybe just wants to get folks on board and figure out how to pay later? She mentioned “several streams of revenue.”

Which? Wealth tax? Revenue saved from rolling back Republican tax giveaways? Maybe she is giving herself room to re-evaluate, though when asked if she would come up with her own plan as distinct from Bernie’s she reiterated that M4All is THE plan.

The moderators were trolling for a yes or no answer to the question of whether taxes would be raised to support Medicare for All. That question is not part of a constructive debate on the subject. A constructive discussion would be about reducing overall healthcare costs. If the total cost of healthcare is reduced by raising the portion paid for by taxes while cutting the portion paid by co-pays, deductibles, and premiums- a rational society should demand it. Most other advanced societies do and their costs are little more than half ours. And they live longer lives.

The moderators and commentators are prostituting themselves on this issue.

We have also foolishly accepted a premise that all taxes are bad. Our anti-tax mentality reflects an irrational sense of entitlement that both parties have catered to for way too long.
I get why she ducks it- or has been told to, but I more than that, I resent that the candidates still buy into the GOP conventional wisdom that it is good politics to enable the destructive and faulty idea that all taxes are a bad thing.
