(6,916 posts)She funnels money from her campaign to another cult member who lives alone in the woods in Washington state and has no other political clients.
Her cult is a critical part of her life and story. Shes way closer with her cult leader than most politicians are with their preachers.

If you donated to Tulsi Gabbard, she's funneled much of your money to her cult
Big investigative piece on Gabbard in a Hawaiian newspaper

(11,989 posts)No, she used a small percentage (looks like probably around 5%) of her contributions to pay a consultant, who belongs to the same religious congregation that she does. Whether you want to call it a cult or not, it's fundamentally no different than if a candidate hired someone s/he originally met from attending the same church. The questions of whether that person is qualified for the job and has provided services commensurate with the amount paid are valid things to ask about, but there's nothing inherently wrong with hiring someone you already know, regardless of where and how you met them.

(6,916 posts)Its the kind of money usually spent on national name-brand political operatives with bustling offices and large staffs based in Washington, D.C., or New York.
But few people in the business have ever heard of Kris Robinson, the owner of Northwest Digital, a web design and internet marketing firm working for Gabbards campaign. His company address is a P.O. box here in Stehekin, a remote village in the Northern Cascades mountains thats famous for its isolation.
....
Yet in the first six months of 2019, federal campaign finance records show Gabbard paid Robinson and his company more than $259,000.
A second-tier candidate in a shrinking but still large field of Democrats seeking to oust Republican President Donald Trump, Gabbard did not qualify for the September debates.
Robinson is one of her top vendors. The only companies receiving more money in the first half of 2019 were Google, for internet advertising, and Revolution Messaging, a well-known digital firm in Washington, D.C., that ran U.S. Sen. Bernie Sanders 2016 presidential primary campaign against Hillary Clinton.
Revolution Messaging and Gabbard parted ways shortly after she announced her candidacy.

(6,916 posts)She was raised in this cult.
Cult members work on her campaign in shady ways.
The cult tells its members to run for political office.
She has not called out the cult.
Its nothing like Rev Wright. Totally a different level.

(47,558 posts)I also know a reverendwrighting when I see one.
This doesn't need to happen. She has no chance to win the nomination.
When we do shit like this, we come out looking EXACTLY the same as the people who did it to Obama.
Because it's the same thing.

(47,558 posts)Because as you can see, one is trying to smear a candidate by linking them to the words and actions of their supposed spiritual leader, and the other one is...um...different?

(15,317 posts)People who profess they can't tell the difference between a religion and a cult are either naive or trying to recruit members for a cult. Members of a cult aren't fit to lead a country.

(8,745 posts)If a woman has a discharge of blood for many days, not at the time of her menstrual impurity, or if she has a discharge beyond the time of her impurity, all the days of the discharge she shall continue in uncleanness. As in the days of her impurity, she shall be unclean.
26 Every bed on which she lies, all the days of her discharge, shall be to her as the bed of her impurity. And everything on which she sits shall be unclean, as in the uncleanness of her menstrual impurity.
27 And whoever touches these things shall be unclean, and shall wash his clothes and bathe himself in water and be unclean until the evening.
28 But if she is cleansed of her discharge, she shall count for herself seven days, and after that she shall be clean.
29 And on the eighth day she shall take two turtledoves or two pigeons and bring them to the priest, to the entrance of the tent of meeting.
30 And the priest shall use one for a sin offering and the other for a burnt offering. And the priest shall make atonement for her before the Lord for her unclean discharge.

Steven Hassan is the worlds leading expert in cults. He wrote a book called Combating Cult Mind Control, which provides a framework for assessing how cult-like an organization is (or isnt). He has developed the BITE Model which categorizes cult-like behavior into four domains:
Behavior Control,
Information Control,
Thought Control, and
Emotional Manipulation and Control.

To assign guilt by association is vile, Tulsi gabbard is a progressive Democrat with ability attract independents and to peel away trump voters to the Democrats,

(6,916 posts)Mitt Romney is and was a scummy Republican liar who smeared Obama nonstop about BS and could not tell the truth through his entire campaign.
And even Romneys religion is nothing even close to as bad as Gabbards.
Gabbard is part of a wingnut cult that literally has a guru that they follow. Its not Hinduism despite their efforts to call it such. Its a charismatic cult with a male leader who asks them to follow him and his personality.
This is David Koresh-level, Moonie-level insanity. Its not Hinduism, its not Baptist Protestantism, its not even Mormonism (which I grant you, is fairly crazy).
Tulsi Gabbard belongs to a charismatic cult that seeks power by asking its members to run for office.
That alone should be disqualifying.
