... much bigger problems thant D. Trump, as E. Warren is wont to remind us. Don't let him set the agenda. The agenda is the wealth gap and medical care and gun violence. Screw D. Trump. No! IGNORE D. Trump!!!!!!!

"It is easy to be distracted by Trumps daily outrages to become obsessed with them or numb to them, or to normalize behavior that Americans would not have tolerated in any of the previous presidents in the nations history. Not me. While the House does its job on impeachment, Im going to stay focused on what matters: remaking education so every child in the country is equipped to succeed in the 21st century; getting weapons of war off the streets and ending the epidemic of gun violence; building on Obamacare so that every American has access to quality, affordable health care; taking on the climate emergency imperiling the planet; and much more. Im going to fight to ensure that the United States is once again the leader of the free world; a champion of democracy; and the bulwark of a stable, peaceful international order." Don't let Trump suck the air out of the room!! I hope the devote a max of one question per candidate at the Oct 15 debates to the Ukraine thing. It doesn't need explanation. It stands on its own, and I expect our candidates are united.

(8,144 posts)our allies and those who are inimical to even the idea of equality and freedom is crucial. The rise of fascism in Europe and Trumps support for that erosion of democratic values is a phenomenon that will change and control the lives of millions upon millions.
If these world issues do not convince that Trump and Trumpism is of great importance to all Americans and many more people than exist
here, the world is closer to a nuclear war than ever before in history.
It is imperative that the leader of the free world, of a leading superpower, not be engaged in corruption, political games, and fulfilling the goals of tyrants. Trump is a blunderer with no foreign policy except whatever some dictator wants, with no concept of the geo-political complexities which can influence the fate of the planet.
It is alarming that any candidate would not see Trump as the threat he is to democracy, to survival on the planet. Right now India and Pakistan are in a stalemate which could become a nuclear show
down, one that will lead to climate catastrophe, not in ten years, but now. The president can not
be trusted by either side. And there are other hot spots. My God, Trump is a threat to the CIA.
I would hope that Warren recognizes all this. Trumps efforts to meddle in 2020 and his unfitness
to lead are primary, existential issues ultimately that impact not only us, but the entire world.
Our candidates awareness and focus must extend beyond domestic economic policies.
We can not, the world can not afford another four years of corruption, betrayal, and incompetence.

(10,829 posts)We ignore that fact at our own peril. If we're to have any 'agenda' at all, we simply must deal with Donald Trump, first and foremost. There's no ignoring the man or his destructive, immoral, cruel actions. He's pissing on the rule of law, trying to circumvent our Constitution and corrupting our institutions.
Ignore him?? Only if you want to lose the Republic. When the house is on fire, you don't ignore it or pretend an agenda will put out the flames. You grab a damn fire hose and douse it, stamp it out, obliterate every ember.
All the policy prescriptions, the things we want to do? If Trump is not defeated, we get nothing and the country we've known will be gone. It's that serious.
