Biden Won't Say If He'd Vote to Convict Trump

Joe Biden declined to say Friday whether he’d vote to convict and remove President Donald Trump from office if he were still in the Senate.

“I am not going to speculate what I would do in the Senate,” he told reporters in Los Angeles. “I’m a former vice president, I know what occurred in Ukraine, I know what occurred in terms of China, I know what occurred in terms of Russia. This is a president trying to get two of our most serious competitors, and not allies, to decide this election, to decide who he runs against.”

He added: “This guy, like all bullies, is a coward. He does not want to run against me.”

House Democrats opened an impeachment inquiry against Trump to determine whether he acted improperly by asking the Ukrainian president to investigate Biden and his son Hunter in exchange for releasing aid. The president has also called on China to investigate the Bidens for “corruption.” There is no evidence either Biden or his son committed any wrongdoing.

A vote to impeach in the House would have to be followed by a trial in the Senate.

Pure speculation as the House has only started their investigation. Other candidates have spoken up, however I don't know one of them that are being personally attacked on a corruption charge while relying on foreign countries to fabricate evidence. I don't know of one that is having their child personally attacked, do you?

Frankly I see his non speculation a good thing. Why give trumpie more fodder for his cannon.

rendering a decision.

but of course you don't want to bring that up because that would put things in perspective and diminish your OP which was meant to impune Biden.

In fact I would argue that ANY Senator who said they would vote to convict without seeing and evaluating the evidence would not be doing the job they were sworn to do.

responsibility it is to CONVICT?

THE SENATE

THE VOTE TO IMPEACH IS DONE IN THE HOUSE

So now you are changing what your OP says, because your OP was referring to the Senate and Conviction, NOT if they would vote to impeach or not, and even with that, until the impeachment inquiry is complete, and everything laid out, the House would THEN make the determination if the evidence merits impeachment, but that wasn't the question poised

Do you see a lot of news stories that include the reporter's question? The context makes it obvious what was asked. As you know.

But just for the hell of it here's another reporter's tweet.

Biden also declined to answer a question about whether or not he would vote to convict Trump if he was still in the Senate

“I am not going to speculate what I would do in the Senate," he said.

....(which neither the article nor OP can confirm), he would be stupid to answer the question. No one knows what the charges are that may be sent to the Senate.

But it makes for an opportunity once again to put Biden in a negative light, as though he thinks trump isn't guilty of anything. Bad reporting and sadly it is unfortunate that it showed up here on DU.
