Democratic Primaries
Related: About this forumJust looking at the candidates Warren and Sanders
appear younger. They do not stumble with their words like Biden does occasionally. However, now Sanders is the one that is ill. This is what worries me about having older candidates. Yes..people in their 40s or 50s can have medical issues too. However, it is a higher risk.
Praying for a speedy recovery for Bernie. I also pray that he does whatever is best for his health. Health means more than anything. Praying for the health for all of our candidates..
primary today, I would vote for: Joe Biden

(5,008 posts)candidates in their 70s. Oh Im supposed to ignore that he is not as sharp as he was when on the ticket with Obama? I wish he would have run in 2016. Even with Russian meddling he would have won. He is popular in the states we need. However, I am CONCERNED by some of his debate performances this year. I guess I have very high expectations because I have seen him be amazing. Like how his debate helped after Obama had a terrible first debate for re-election. He swooped in and saved the day. I want that Biden as a candidate. I swear disagree about one little thing and yall flip out.

(10,832 posts)She's also in her 70s.
And if this was the first concern post about Joe Biden's health and/or fitness those of us who refute this sort of OP might respond differently.
Btw, that guy who swooped in and saved the day for Obama is the same guy now. His name is Joe Biden, just a few years older. Same passion, same humor, same integrity, experience and knowledge about how shit gets done and how to right the Ship of State, so we can, in fact, move forward.
So, as I said originally: Your concern is noted.

(8,745 posts)She's probably healthier than anyone here.
As for Biden, he had two brain aneurysms before he ever set foot in the White House and I can't think of any major problems with his thinking, memory or orientation. A comical gaffe or two, but no serious impairments of his judgment.
Biden hasnt disclosed his medical history since 2008, when doctors found he had an irregular heartbeat. It has already been reported that he battles with asthma and allergies, and, like Trump, takes a prescription drug to lower his cholesterol. Biden also has taken medication for an enlarged prostate and had his gallbladder removed in 2003.
Biden would be older than Reagan was upon leaving the White House, but I'm sure that once he releases his medical records we will see that he is in peak physical and mental shape and should continue as such for the next 5 years.

(10,832 posts)So, any mention of Elizabeth Warren's age is a no-no.
Because she runs up walls like Jackie Chan.
Good to know.
Btw, Joe Biden has stated he'll release his medical report before the first primary votes are cast. Unless, of course, you're suggesting that report will be falsified.
Very Trumpian of you.
Doesn't change the fact that Elizabeth Warren is still 70 years old. Hardly a spring chicken. Which makes the ageist argument pretty dumb.
Because if it's all about age/health? Then Mayor Pete or Beto O'Rourke are the only two candidates we should consider, period.
Btw, have you caught the age and health history of Ruth Bader Ginsburg? Ms Badass has been rocking SCOTUS through good days and bad.
Just saying.

That then begs the question: what is the specific amount of risk acceptable, and on what specific age measurement is that number based on?

(24,303 posts)If Harris was the VP, would you be okay with a one term president? I would be.
What we want is for Trump to not be president anymore.
primary today, I would vote for: Joe Biden
The focus right now is kicking Trump to the curb, period. If Biden gets the nomination, his VP selection will likely be young and dynamic, a hattip to the future. I have far less concern about a one-term president than I do Trump's reelection and the continuing damage he's doing day-by-day.
We need to focus on first things first: Defeating Donald Trump and Trumpism, a full repudiation of everything the man stands for or face the distinct possibly of losing our democratic Republic.
Nothing else matters! Nothing.
