Cancelations for ad buys for Sanders in Iowa

A $1.3 million ad buy was placed for @SenSanders
in Iowa just yesterday. Advertising Analytics confirms they’re seeing cancellations from stations that appear to be a full cancelation of that buy - via @CarrieNBCNews

Wishing Bernie a speedy recovery.

1. Sanders campaign confirms this -- calling it a "postponement."

Would there be any other reason to cancel/postpone his Iowa TV Ad Buy ? ...I want him to take all the time he needs to fully recover ...Then he can continue his great work in the US Senate for many years to come …. He's a Great Man

5. He still has plenty of time to advertise in Iowa after he's back on the trail.. No point in ad buys

until then.

And it's possible that he will have to end his campaign. I hope that won't happen. I hope he'll recover quickly.

But in the meantime, he's smart to cancel the ad buys.

convention on a gurney. But he'll be okay, probably feeling better than he has in some while in short order. I've avoided seeing him amap but when I did thought he seemed tired, and if so this would explain why. I'm wondering if this trimming of spending in IA might tip his hand that he doesn't expect to win the nomination and has different goals.

I really hope he puts his health first.

I’m in good physical condition, much younger than Sanders, and I could not IMAGINE enduring the rigors of campaigning.

Hope he recovers soon.

6. His Long Term prognosis would seem to be good

Given his age , I believe it would be unwise for Bernie to resume the crushing physical burdens that come with conducting a Presidential Campaign It is really grueling ….. He needs a couple of months of rest and relaxation ….Time with his family and then back in the saddle as a Great United States Senator …..

Cancelling ads temporarily just sounds like common sense until the Senator is fully recovered and the campaign truly knows what this recent medical emergency portends for the future. The one thing you have to say about Sanders is that he's persistent. If there's any chance he'll be able to resume campaigning, I'm sure he'll push himself to the max.

8. You are right - Bernie will push himself to the Max if he resumes campaigning

At a time when he should be doing the exact opposite ….That is why I hope he can be convinced to put his health first …. I am not saying that he should be rushed to a facility for senior living.....R and R for a couple of months seems to be the wisest course... Enjoy his 7 Grand Kids …….Then Back to work in the US Senate ….. A Presidential campaign involves 13 hour work days and sometimes as little as 4 hours of sleep …. Jet Lag ... Bad Diet ..High Stress ...…..Bernie is stubborn ...He may resume his campaign

11. Good call to postpone ad. 1.3M ain't peanuts. Need immediate follow up

Look what happened to Harris after her big reveal. No follow up. Wasted effort.
I've worked in publicity. You don't do a release you can't follow up with. It gets buried.
Smart move on Weaver's part.

12. If these ad buys coincided with appearances this makes sense.

It had been reported recently his campaign was going to ramp up his presence in Iowa and New Hampshire in a renewed focus on the early states due to some weakness in the polls there. His recent ad buy was set to run for two weeks beginning tomorrow. There's no way he can make appearances right now while he's healing, which seems to be the thought process here.

I expect he'll be back on the trail in about a week or two and these will be rescheduled then.

Sanders isn't my first choice, but IMO he's not going to drop out over his having been diagnosed with cardiovascular disease. If this has a significant impact on his polling numbers will remain to be seen, but I don't see him ending his campaign over this.

If I were to vote in a presidential
primary today, I would vote for:
Joe Biden
