Michael Harriot of The Root just made an ass of himself questioning a Biden anecdote that's true

Last edited Sat Sep 14, 2019, 04:52 PM - Edit history (1)

The anecdote is about something that happened when Biden was working as a lifeguard at a pool in a black neighborhood and had a run-in with a gang member with the unlikely nickname of Corn Pop.

Harriot, a senior writer for The Root, posted a tweetstorm ridiculing the story and ending with a tweet saying that he'd bet his pinky toe Corn Pop never existed. He accused Biden of making things up.

I'm assuming no one took Harriot up on his bet, or he'd be missing one pinkie toe.

The story -- includiing the gang member's name -- is true, and was corroborated by former Delaware state NAACP president Richard “Mouse” Smith in 2017, when the pool where this happened was renamed in Biden's honor.

Mediaite story about Harriot's foolish tweetstorm, and the truth of the story.

https://www.mediaite.com/news/watch-joe-biden-tells-story-of-facing-down-razor-wielding-gang-leader-named-corn-pop/

The Mediatite article also has video of Smith confirming the story, giving his own firsthand account.

I'm bringing this up because I think what Harriot did is a glaring example of the unfair treatment of Biden by all too many in the media.

Harriot wouldn't have had to do very much checking online to discover that it was a true story and that Smith had corroborated it.

But no, it was too much fun to try to ridicule Biden and accuse him of being a liar.

And Harriot not only accused Biden of lying, he started his thread with a really offensive tweet Mediaite didn't copy, which you can find if you click on any of the links for the tweets shown in that Mediaite article, and skim up to the top.

Harriot should be deeply ashamed.

And he owes Biden an apology.

If I were to vote in a presidential
primary today, I would vote for:
Joe Biden

You shouldn't expect him to report honestly about any Democrat and you shouldn't expect an apology to Biden.
I suggest you shake it off and move on.
