All candidates put themselves forward as electable.

However, if you put too many eggs in that basket, and suffer set backs in the primaries, you do not have an omelette.

or is that simply another straw man... a fun thing to argue against despite no one saying as such?

I agreed with his positions even though I was doubtful of his sincerity. But I figured he would probably govern based on the positions that got him elected, because that would be the route to re-election, so I was comfortable with the vote. But he was off the ticket before my state's primary, so I switched to Obama, who I felt was the slightly more left of the two centrists.

But I listened to the IWR vote - he was one of the worst, and went on to push for the war.

Most thought America was not ready to elect a black guy with a scary middle name.

The situation now is not that the opponents are scary, its that Biden is simply very popular and gives voters comfort that he can handle this.

That doesn't make any sense. She's ahead in everything in your poll, not just electability.

Just because it's the highest doesn't mean that it was her only focus. It's a poll; it has nothing to do with what she or her supporters focused on. It certainly wasn't just electability.

One could only come to your conclusion by ignoring everything but one data point.
