Connecticut Senate majority leader Bob Duff endorses Mayor Pete for President

Senate majority leader Bob Duff has endorsed fellow Democrat Pete Buttigieg for president as the field narrows down toward the November 2020 election.

Duff, a longtime Norwalk legislator, says that the South Bend, Indiana, is the best of the slate of candidates, which will include nine others in the next major nationally televised debate on September 12. The field includes high-profile Democrats, including former Vice President Joe Biden and U.S. Senators Kamala Harris of California, Bernie Sanders of Vermont, Cory Booker of New Jersey and Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts.

“I have known Pete for the better part of eight, nine years, and I know he’s a candidate who can bring the country back again,” Duff said in quotes released by Buttigieg’s national campaign.

“He speaks in a way people can understand, and I have confidence with his plans to unite this country," Duff said. "I think he can inspire, unite, and think long-term for our children and grandchildren. He thinks of an America that can become better and brighter than today. He’s a candidate to unite a very broken country.”
