When Did Joe Biden Start Believing He Had Opposed the Iraq War?

[link:https://slate.com/news-and-politics/2019/09/joe-biden-iraq-vote-what-now.html|

And how could he have been surprised that authorizing the use of military force meant Bush would use military force?

By BEN MATHIS-LILLEY

On the heels of getting caught inventing an anecdote about a service member in Afghanistan, in an attempt to make the point that the United States needs to bring its troops back home, Joe Biden has now made some interesting claims about his role in sending troops away from home in the first place. This is from NPR:

[Biden] explained that his rationale in authorizing the use of military force in Iraq in 2002 was based on a commitment he had received from then-President George W. Bush that he would not go to war in Iraq. “[Bush] looked me in the eye in the Oval Office. He said he needed the vote to be able to get inspectors into Iraq to determine whether or not Saddam Hussein was engaged in dealing with a nuclear program,” said Biden. “He got them in and before you know it, we had ‘shock and awe.’ ” …

“Immediately, that moment it started, I came out against the war at that moment,” Biden told NPR.

difficult decision on a vote she ever made. That her and Biden's votes are seen as proof Democrats want war is just as stupid as the years of claims from anti-Democratic trolls that President Obama's hobby was murdering innocent people with drones and would start WWIII any minute now.

...to bullshit the Senate about said war.

Said Joe, with such acid it is still etched in my brain: "My nephew is there."

Sorry if I don't have every detail ready to reel out to you, and sorry if you look it up and it turns out he said it was his niece or his uncle. But like Joe's stories -- the essence is true and I stand by it.

shouldn't be made at all. We're not trumpsters.

POTUS at the time NEEDED war power to stop Iraq from breaking out. Ten years of highly successful containment after the First Gulf War was about to fall apart because Saddam Hussein knew the U.S. president didn't have authority from congress to stop him and was on the move.

Of course Biden hoped W wouldn't misuse it but wasn't sure. Of course Hillary spoke forever on the senate floor about how the necessary power wasn't to be abused and hoped it wouldn't be. Hell, I believed W would probably listen to his father and every expert adviser who said both no WMD and that invasion was not only not necessary but would be a disaster. Those included Arnold Schwartzkopf, head of U.S. Central Command of 100 nations in the First, and literally everyone who should have been listened to.

It appears that the repetitious posts do nothing beyond irritating the community. If you have some sort of goal, perhaps this isn't the most effective method, yeah?

As an "undecided", much like myself, it far more productive to look at the strengths of our candidates, rather concentrating on just one of them and only focusing on things you dislike.

The cat's out of the bag now, so as others have said, stop it. Go find a different candidate and extol their virtues.
