Cabinet positions?

Last edited Sat Mar 16, 2019, 09:02 PM - Edit history (1)

Obviously only one of this impressive group will get the nomination. Of course the others would probably go back to their old jobs as senators and other elected officials or whatever else they're doing, and maybe one of them would be the nominee's running mate, but what about cabinet and cabinet-rank positions? I got to thinking about how some of these people could fill those jobs when Trump's bunch of grifters, stooges and incompetents are shown the door. Any suggestions? I've got:

State: Biden
Treasury: Warren
Defense: Biden, if not State
Justice (AG): Harris or Klobuchar (former prosecutors)
Interior: Inslee, if not EPA
Agriculture: Hickenlooper
Commerce: Yang
Labor: Warren, if not Treasury, or Sanders
Health and Human Services: Sanders
Housing and Urban Development: Castro
Education: ?
Veterans' Affairs: Buttigieg
Homeland Security: Booker
Environmental Protection: Inslee
United Nations Ambassador: Gillibrand

I don't know what, if anything, to do with Delaney, Gabbard or Williamson, none of whom are likely to come close to either position on the final ticket.

Any other suggestions, just for fun?

even more so if a repub governor will appoint their replacement.

i would be pleased if biden would accept secretary of state. we have a lot of diplomatic mauntenance and repair to do, and he probably has the best knowlege of who to send where and do what. (on second thought, that probably qualifies him, uniquely, for the presidency. )

other than that, there are plenty of jobs that will need doing. we need to utilize all of our candidates' talents, and make them more qualified for even bigger jobs.

beto needs to run for senator vs cornyn.

mitch landrieu could use a job - ambassador to someplace distant and harmless would be nice.

if john bel edwards loses his reelection this year we want him to run for senator, but he would be good at fema or another homeland security job.

2. I agree that most should remain in the senate, we need them there.

But they aren't all senators, and Biden and Beto are currently unemployed. And it's likely that at least a few of these people, certainly not all, might be tapped for cabinet positions. So I'm just playing a little what-if game.

You do realize what party Vermont Governor Phil Scott belongs to, don't you?

They'll definitely need someone like him to come in and clean up. Bringing back Kerry for a term would be another option.

I am not sure how interested in International Relations he is, but I think Andrew Gillum could be a great Secretary of State.

It's just speculation about whether some of the candidates who don't get nominated might get cabinet positions, and if so, which ones. Not all of them are senators, anyhow.
