(11,746 posts)"I voted for Orange Hitler because I voted against Hillary Clinton" is emotional, not rational.

There are enough people of reason to ensure that reason prevails. I still feel I can trust people of reason. I don't feel that I can trust the people in the video. And remember that Orange Hitler, himself, is not the problem. All Republicans are the problem.

(13,110 posts)There is no hope for these people.
They think they are moral, but they are not.
The man did not vote for anyone, he voted against Dems by voting for Trump.
They should all be so proud.

We Democrats need to get off our high horse and realize we NEED these people. They're the voters that will make the difference next year.

(31,261 posts)elected a freshman democrat to Congress from a reddish district. Or who elected a democrat Governor in conservative Kansas when the choice was a super crazy republican. Or who will likely re-elect a democrat Governor of Louisiana. Or who help elect Sharice Davis to Congress. There are times when we don't need their vote, but in purple and light-red states, they mean the difference between victory and defeat for our candidates at all levels.

(5,542 posts)I heard a lot of people talking like this in the summer of 2016.
When push came to shove, a significant fraction of them held their nose and voted for Trump anyway.
When the truckloads of campaign cash fill the airways with scary stories about Judges and healthcare, that is when the rubber hits the road.

(1,898 posts)To everyone here who criticized Bernie for pursuing tЯump voters, I defy you to watch this video while retaining the same position.
Senator Harris is to be commended for her strong performance. If the election were held today, the 2 women in the video identify as conservative and would vote FOR THE DEMOCRAT.
Pursuing tЯump voters is good politics, period!

(5,969 posts)For 2020 maybe but they sound as if they'll continue to vote for Rs not named Trump. And this talk that some Dems have crazy views about immigration is also telling. Not sure how the situation in Iowa is but looking at the demographics, being that occupied with that topic seems strange.
primary today, I would vote for: Joe Biden
Hortensis
(58,785 posts)different. The mother and daughter both said they can't vote for Trump but needed a Democrat who wasn't "crazy" on immigration and other issues, and we know all our top prospects are sensible on the subject, even if they don't yet. It's going to be our nominee's job to go ahead and reel them in.
The dad was a typical male, more conservative than them. No telling how he'll come down, but he emphatically wanted it on record that he did not vote FOR Trump but against Hillary. Assinine, but really bad for Trump. Evil Hillary, who out-evils all comers, won't be on the ballot this time. He'll need to offer his women a different excuse or give in and commit to wanting it on record that he didn't vote FOR a Democrat but against Trump.
They all illustrate why the Republicans are very worried about all our solid Democrats, but right now especially Biden, as reassuringly un-crazy as state fairs each summer and as comfortably familiar and nice as...himself.
