AxiosJoe Biden is set to take on President Trump's rhetoric directly following the mass shootings in El Paso and Dayton in a speech in Burlington, Iowa, Wednesday afternoon, saying the president "has fanned the flames of white supremacy in this nation."
Why it matters: From the very beginning of his 2020 campaign, the former vice president has pitched himself as a direct counter to Trump, choosing to focus on the "climate of the nation."
What he'll say:
- "How far is it from Trump's saying this 'is an invasion' to the shooter in El Paso declaring 'his attack is a response to the Hispanic invasion of Texas?' Not far at all."
- "How far is it from the white supremacists and Neo-Nazis in Charlottesville Trumps 'very fine people,' chanting 'You will not replace us' to the shooter at the Tree of Life synagogue in Pittsburgh saying Jews 'were committing genocide to his people?' Not far at all."
- "In both clear language and in code, this president has fanned the flames of white supremacy in this nation."

(11,885 posts)He may be thinking about Hillary or Kamala or Rep Shiff for his AG position. It would really be amusing if Obama let him suggest he might choose him as his running mate. It would make the news cycle be on him instead of being on red donnie. All the candidates need to start doing things to ruffle his feathers a little , and take the focus away from him every day. They should show other countries with violent video games don't have the mass murders with guns in their countries, and who has reduced treatment for mental illness in the country , they have. Joe needs to bring up who on behalf on red donnie met with these dangerous groups overseas (Bannon did). They need to now pounce on him for this, and make the news cycle theirs , not his. Maybe suggest red donnie is mentally disturbed would be another good headline.
