Joe Biden remains a favorite among black voters, even if he doesn't know his Kool-Aid

Laura Washington column:

Black folks are always eager to back “one of us.”

We are also highly pragmatic. Drumming Trump out of office is Priority No. 1.

Biden has racked up big leads in polls of African American voters in the early months of the 2020 Democratic presidential primary , even while competing against two prominent African American senators, Booker and Kamala Harris of California.

Biden is the top choice of 53 percent of black Democrats, according to a poll taken July 25-28. Harris was preferred by 7 percent of African Americans. Booker? Two percent.

I hope you'll read the entire column.

".. not interested in the skin color.. " or the gender.. It's who has the most experience to do an excellent job, and has the strongest chance to beat trump in those crucial swing states.

Thank you, Tarheel!

Booker and Harris are desperate to shake loose Biden’s support."

Are black folks drinking the Kool-Aid?

Biden, of course, was the vice presidential choice of their beloved first black president, Barack Obama, as Biden assiduously reminds us. (Obama was name dropped 13 times during Wednesday’s debate, mostly by Biden, Politico reports).

There’s a long way to go. But if I were running for president, I would want to be best known for something other than Kool-Aid.

Mahalo for this perspective from Laura Washington and her brilliant background, highplainsdem!

She's saying what a lot of us have been saying about why Biden is so strong among the POC community.

They have Biden bashers all through their line up. They mostly interview POC that aren’t supporting Joe. They need horse race numbers to get better ratings. I watch it a lot less than I used to.

to gloat over how they would cover Biden's climb and Harris' descent. To my surprise, Rev. Al and Joy Reid, seem to have gotten the message that they would enable trump's reelection if they continue bashing Biden. Either that, or management told them to knock it off.

and nurtured deep relationships over many years. That network of friends, colleagues, political allies is paying off now because Democratic voters know who the man is, what he stands for and appreciate the experience he can bring to the job. Beating Trump is number one, and then the hard task of rebuilding governmental infrastructure that Trump and his enablers have so assiduously, gleefully torn asunder will be the on-going task so we can move forward in healthcare, climate change, immigration, gun control, etc, all the policies and changes Democrats so passionately want enacted.

The prime objective remains--beat Trump like a drum. History will thank us. Not to mention our kids and grand babies.
