(7,277 posts)But we can't shy away from the hard words. The President is a racist, a white nationalist, leading a white nationalist movement, stoking white nationalist terror. Like Cory Baker, Kamala is instinctively civil and polite. So are Beto and Pete, but they are speaking truth to power. IMO we cannot afford to mince words in these times.

(7,277 posts)but even calling Trump a predator does not pin him to the white nationalist terror he inspires. (See the video of Buttigieg below)
To be fair, I don't know what stage of the rally this was. A president is called on to be comforter is chief. In this clip, she is helping people make sense of it all.

(86,005 posts)...I think Kamala is on the right track, addressing Trump on her own level.
Not engaging in back and forth about whether he's a racist or not is a good tact. The 'you're a racist, no you're a racist,' sing-song just perpetuates Trump's supporters' demagogic game.
Kamala makes a case beyond inflammatory phrases and words why Trump's incendiary rhetoric is bad for America, and directs her outreach to all Americans who are struggling or trying to find their place. She connects with those of us who want a different kind of leadership.

(1,501 posts)Harris' words sound very familiar:
Biden last week: "A President is supposed to lift this nation up. Not tear it down." (July 27, 2019)

...Joe Biden was eloquent and showed strong leadership confronting Trump in that debate, as he has elsewhere.
