but .. we all know now that Joe Biden can take a hit and keep on coming.. and Kamala Harris got whomped last debate.. ..and of course Bernie Sanders has had his share of hits.. and so far Elizabeth Warren has not had to really take it on full force.. and yes .. everyone has a history.. and we need to know (hey that is what everyone is telling me about VP Biden getting taking it on from all sides.. he has to be prepared) .. if Senator Warren can take the hits and come back..

Out of those 4 will come the nominee.. almost sure of it... and I guess we have to beat them into a proverbial putty to make sure they can bounce back from Trump (instead of beating up on Trump, we beat up on our own )

If I were to vote in a presidential
primary today, I would vote for:
Joe Biden

1. It is by no sense a sure thing for those four

Both Carter and Clinton were WELL below that point in the summer before election year.

We absolutely could see someone currently in the low single digits make through to the nomination.

4. Agreed. Not a sure thing.

The number of candidates running, and still more warming up on the sidelines - suggests many think this is not a strong field, and there is no sure thing.

6. I don't think that it's thought to be a weak field

I think it’s that Trump is so unpopular that they think getting the nomination means becoming president.

9. That strategy did not work so well in 2016.

In 2020 so far we have a much more robust field of candidates.

Like others in this thread suspect that the nomination will come from Biden, Warren, Sanders, or Harris.

I suspect Harris is positioned as a spoiler so Warren and Sanders will split votes and Biden will prevail and moderates will be happy even if it decreases the probability of regaining POTUS for the party.

Looks too much like a replay of 2016 so I am nervous about Trump (or other GOP) could pull another upset.

I tend toward Warren. Have never voted for anyone but a Democrat and don't intend to change.

14. Agreed trump is wildly unpopular, and has a tendency to self-destruct.

However, no one has emerged beyond their support group, that is strong and appealing across the board that I see.

10. IMO Warren is the strongest candidate and would be best for nation and party.

Smart person who looks out for the interests of the broadest group of citizens.

Warren is likely the biggest threat to moderate Democrats that favor Biden (and favored HRC in 2016) as well as the biggest threat to Trumpsters and the GOP. Go figure.

5. I tend to agree. But think it really down to Joe and Warren.

I think Biden’s support is solid since it is from the average, centrist in the party. So his loss will come from 32-35% being his cap. Which I don’t believe. He gets the 2nd or third place vote from all others supporters.

I can’t see Bernie catching fire. He is a well known commodity and if he had a chance it was blowing up from the git-go. I think 2016 and especially his supporters behavior at the convention hurt him more than we expected.

But I do think Warren can blow to the top. Unfortunately I think MFA is going to hurt her. DU does not reflect the average Democratic voter.

If Biden wins his tying himself to the ACA rather than jumping in the MFA bandwagon, which many thought would hurt him may end up being a genius move. Although supporting a popular position Democrats have been fighting like hell for 8 years to keep intact seems like a no-brainer to me.

But what do I know...I’m a Agriculture manager! Just stating my opinion, which is worth anyone pays for it.

Have a nice evening.

It seems the high ground results in martyrdom.

But a lot of bad press is trouble makers paid or otherwise to stir us up. So it’s up to us to keep level heads.

She does her homework and she has a plan...and to date she has been the epitome of the team player. Come loaded for republican or go the hell home.

As to who we choose for the general election, the incoming Dem administration will not be facing the same problems or landscape of the last one. Climate change has to be addressed now, or we lose...the human race loses. Game over. The one percent are a roadblock to that goal. If you try to address this decade's problems with twenty year old solutions, we all lose. Game over. If and when AI emerges, most of us will be sitting home without a job, if we still have homes.
