(49,005 posts)One was about the calculated nature of her attack on Biden, which the stories said had been long planned. One story said she'd "settled" on the "that little girl was me" line during the rehearsals. And of course her campaign followed her saying those words within minutes with a tweet quoting them and a pic of her, and by the next day they had the t-shirt out. And a moment that had briefly seemed spontaneous and genuinely emotional suddenly looked calculated and theatrical. The t-shirt especially seemed to provoke a backlash.
The second narrative had to do with her backtracking on various positions she was taking. Lots of stories about that.
And besides those narratives, Biden's supporters in the black community weren't that easily swayed. As has been shown in the recent polls.

(44,228 posts)I read that right here at DU.
You mean she actually gained support from the debates?
And if Biden only got back 88% of what he lost, he's still down from where he previously was.
Am I reading that right?

(704 posts)when his being a VP to PBO is the lasting memory people have.
Insinuating that he is a racist causes massive cognitive dissonance with that background.
I think the real beneficiary of the Booker-Kamala attacks was Senator Warren.
Instead of going after the Biden vote, both Harris and Booker should look at BS's soft supporters and try to peel them away. They may prefer a completely unwinnable candidate to a slightly less unwinnable candidate.
