Obama liked ice cream a lot but not doughnuts. I remember some wingnuts claiming that not liking doughnuts was extremely unAmerican.

I like all of the above. Sugar will kill me one day.

3. Starting in kindergarten the first thing I did when I got home

was to eat a teaspoon full of sugar. I even did it in the army when I could. I am now 76 years old and my kidneys and teeth are fine. Don't sweat it.

5. I remember making a sugar cube "mission" (seemed like practically an elementary school

promotion requirement in CA)... but not sure I ever actually finished it, given the speed and gusto with which I was pounding back the sugar cubes. And Pixie Stix!!! (Flavored sugar!) If you were just eating the one teaspoon (you could stop at ONE?!), you have superhuman restraint and can't possibly understand the plight of lesser mortals such as myself. (I don't know about my kidneys, but my teeth have definitely paid a price... for which my dentist profusely thanks me.)

9. I did okay until we moved to a rural town.

10 minutes away by bicycle was the next town over. It had an original one-room schoolhouse not still in use, a grist mill also not still in use, and a general store that sold just about anything you needed including the largest selection of penny candy from buttons on a piece of paper to wax lips to wax bottles filled with the vilest tasting liquids. I never did find out was in those bottles. The best was the pickles. They were in a wooden barrel and did they make your lips pucker. If I could live my life over from birth to 12 over and over I would be glad to never grow older.

14. I had a similar store (reached by bike or foot) with all kinds of candy, sour ball gum, Dubble

Bubble gum (I used to collect the comics that came with the wrappers for some reason), the wax lips (which I loved, even though they eventually turned into not very good gum), those mysterious wax bottles of whatever, and candy necklaces (!)... plus caps for cap guns, small slingshots and other toys that have fallen out of favor. Life was pretty great (in spite of parents that weren't that good at parenting), and I was never one of those kids who wanted to hurry and grow up. I appreciated in real time that I was living the good life. I had so much free time to play and roam and read and write and dream... while adulthood just looked like way too much boring work and responsibility. (By my early teen years, living with my rightwing parents had become unbearable, so at that point I did want to grow up ASAP to escape them and the conservative town I had grown to hate.)

But it goes much beyond her looks. She's so intelligent and well-spoken.
AG for the 6th or 7th largest economy in the world.
She's got gravitas.
I told Jeannie that I wanted her to be president.
