I believe in baby steps, Biden is talking up decency and humility. The differences between Joe Biden and Trump could not be more stark. One would have to be totally brain dead and blind not to see that.

(12,618 posts)And boomers will be mostly gone. That leaves Gen X'ers, Millenials, and Gen Z, all of which are way more liberal than their predecessors.
They will be way more open to AOC than their predecessors. Although it's hard to see sometimes given that we're living in the thick of their bullshit, conservatives are dying out. And there's nothing on the horizon to replace them. These generations will see the effects of global warming. And they will look to progressive leaders like AOC to do something about it.
I said Obama would probably be president someday when he first bounced onto the scene in 2004. People told me I was dreaming then too.

(34,857 posts)I'm assuming a bit of that is name recognition, though. Still, one constant from 2016 with the polls was just how many of 'em had Hillary leading Trump with less than 50%. What happened was that while Trump was polling significantly lower than you'd need to be to win - his rival was polling below a majority, as well, and it seems, at least in 2016, most all the undecideds broke for Trump.
Take Michigan from 2016:
In the final RCP average, Hillary was at 47% and Trump 43.4%. That's a decent spread (+3.6 points, so, nearly 4) but that also meant there was 9.6% of votes who either were going to vote third party or hadn't made up their mind who they'd vote for. The final results? Hillary won 47% of the vote and Trump 47.3%. Hillary's numbers were spot-on, Trump's improved by 3.9%. So, he got a significant portion of the undecided vote (likely due to the Comey Letter).
The good news is that Trump is far more underwater right now in Michigan than he was in Nov., 2016. That alone should concern Trump.
