I don't care what she has to say in those tweets you posted.. I can see she has an agenda and spinning as fast and negatively as she can.

(297,323 posts)that but nothing came up.
Another thing that did come up was.. "12 hours ago Bernie Sanders apologized for voting for horrible crime bill.. "
This is what he said then.
On balance, its positive initiatives to control crime outweigh the negatives, Sanders said in an August 11, 1994 speech on the House floor, according to the congressional record. Eleven days later, Sanders was quoted on the front page of the Burlington Free Press calling it "a step forward for Vermont and for the nation in addressing the horrendous problem with crime and violence.

(44,133 posts)Kamala Harris Was Not a Progressive Prosecutor
The senator was often on the wrong side of history when she served as Californias attorney general.
By Lara Bazelon

That piece on Senator in my humble opinion was full of distortions and half-truths (aka lies)

I wouldnt trust Bazelon if her tongue came notarized. Of course your mileage may vary.

(85,999 posts)...her ONE article has been plastered all over the internet like wall paper for months. It's been used by Kamala foes from way left of the spectrum to the way right, without any political fruition other than a whispering game by people who don't seem to care what happened the victims of crime or those accused, beyond a political cudgel.
Pro tips:
1)Prosecutors are tasked with enforcing laws, not legislating them out of, say, the Judiciary Committee in 1994.
2) These charges have been raised and answered by Kamala Harris over successive elections (in the state which we assume cares the most), and she hasn't lost a one.
3) Even where then-AG Harris was not responsible for charges and criticism, she always stepped up and took responsibility.
Remember, Kamala Harris' time as DA and AG is marked by more than the criticisms by this ONE professor in this ONE article. In fact, you'd be hard-pressed to find another critique of Kamala Harris' time as AG that doesn't reference and rely on this one internet fave.
..who prosecuted that historic mortgage settlement case that helped more than 84,000 California families?
Who prosecuted and won the $1.1 billion settlement against the for-profit (now defunct) Corinthian Colleges for predatory and unlawful practices?
Who made it their major priority as AG, prosecuting transnational gangs known for trafficking drugs, firearms, and humans? Her office led a groundbreaking study on the impacts of transnational criminal organizations and human trafficking in California.
Progressive prosecutors do this:
..as DA from 2004 to 2011, Harris opposed both Proposition 22 and Proposition 8, which limited marriage to one man and one woman. Though they passed in 2000 and 2008, respectively, both were struck down while she was in office. As San Francisco DA, Harris also created a Hate Crimes Unit aimed at prosecuting hate crimes committed against LGBTQ teens in school.
Harriss early support of marriage equality in California directly laid the legal groundwork for the US Supreme Courts decision in 2012 that same-sex couples have the right to marry. The Court cited Californias success in striking down Prop 8 in its opinion. Within hours of the decision, plaintiffs to the Supreme Court case Kris Perry and Sandy Stier became the first gay couple to wed in San Francisco, and Harris officiated their wedding.

This thread was evidently posted as an object lesson. Kamala Harris and her supporters can handle these worn-out criticisms from this one source; none of this is new.
I think it may be a surprise for some that she didn't restrict her hyperbole to Kamala Harris.

I rec'd on the Kamala piece because I've read the sentiments before, and from other sources (and written better, I might add.) I didn't rec on it because I thought the author was special.
I didn't rec on the Kamala piece because I particularly think it's important. I find the the folks who denigrate Biden for allegedly doing the same things their own horse in the race does to be entertaining.

(18,277 posts)Ms Bazelon's twitter account dates to 2013, but it appears that she tweeted nothing whatsoever before July 20, 2016, nothing whatsoever about either convention, nothing whatsoever about the general election campaign, and nothing whatsoever immediately before or after the election.
Finally, in late November, the intrepid Brazelon broke her silence with a twitter link to her Slate piece:
Do you have your answer now, Ms Bazelon?
Oh, and she did find time to tweet about a podcast featuring Molly Ringwald!
Thanks for all your help in 2016, Ms Bazelon. I do so admire a courageous woman of strong convictions who stands by her words, rather than scrubs her account.

(11,631 posts)I realize the article is from April but I did not realize that he still refused to take more responsibility for his actions in the Senate as regards Anita Hill. Anyone with a long political history as Biden is bound to have some missteps. In my opinion that one looks particularly egregious especially in light of the recent Kavanaugh hearings. Joe needs a better explanation or a more convincing mea culpa I don't know which. I'm sure this draw the ire of the Biden folks, but I do feel this issue is a lot more problematic for Joe than his stance on bussing in the 1970s.
