Sanders, Buttigieg add campaign events before Detroit presidential debates
U.S. Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) and South Bend, Ind., Mayor Pete Buttigieg on Friday both announced Michigan campaign events prior to the second round of Democratic National Committee presidential debates next Tuesday and Wednesday in Detroit.
Both Buttigieg and Sanders were just in Detroit on Wednesday for the national NAACP presidential forum. Buttigieg is slated to hold a grassroots event at 5:30 p.m. Sunday at the Fillmore, 2115 Woodward Ave. in Detroit.
Sanders has scheduled a 6 p.m. fundraiser on Saturday in Michigan. A location has not been announced. He had previously said he will be in Detroit on Sunday and accompany Type I diabetes patients on a bus trip seeking cheaper insulin in Canada.
The two nights of Democratic presidential debates will take place at the Fox Theatre.
