Looking at this lineup, it is incumbent on Joe Biden's to appear vigorous and ready for the challenges of serving as President since he will be directly compared to considerably younger candidates.
A specific individual's age and fitness are relevant factors in judging any candidate.

After all, there will be a 37-year-old rising star standing near them on the stage...
Editing to add that to the other side of Warren and Sanders will be a 46-year-old, O'Rourke.
And since both Buttigieg and O'Rourke look quite a bit younger than they are, and their actual ages are younger than Harris and Booker's ages, there's even more of an age contrast July 30 than July 31.
Aren't you concerned about that as well, since Warren's your preferred primary candidate?
FWIW, I think our older candidates will do just fine.

(5,376 posts)Sanders and Biden, not so much.
In the next debate, if any of the candidates in their 70's do not look as sharp as the younger candidates, they are in big trouble.
People will definitely be watching out for that.

(5,376 posts)Ah.
Got it.
The only problem for the Biden Campaign is a lot of other people watched that first debate too.
"But its not easy to find a thoughtful Democrat outside the Biden camp who sees an easy way for the former vice president to pull out of his free fall since his widely panned performance in the first debate."

(15,512 posts)The rest are all middle-aged, including Booker and Harris. Sure they look great but so does Joe. And if they get into another food fight over busing I'm seriously going to re-consider my senator's fitness for her office.
