July Debate 20 names announced by CNN

No link.
Just announced.
Lineup is the same as the last debates except that Gov Bullock replaces Swalwell.

These five are out: Sestak, Steyer, Moulton, Gravel, Messam

The 20 that are in will have their names drawn live on CNN tomorrow night at 8pm eastern for their night and podium positions on stage.

If I were to vote in a presidential
primary today, I would vote for:
Joe Biden

Steyer knew he'd not get in this one. His money may make it possible for him to qualify for 3rd. hlthe2b Jul 2019 #1

So, fine. Videotape it and post online. But to show it live is really to trivialize these debates. hlthe2b Jul 2019 #9

but it will be tough.

I really hate that they are doing a "live" drawing though. Enough of this game show crap.

It shows the conspiracy-minded crowd that there's no behind-the-scenes shenanigans affecting who is going up against who.

I realize this has become the era of "showmanship" and "reality (not reality) tv" but I HATE IT. It has made us all STUPID and shallow.

They could put the video up on a web site, but nuts would claim it was doctored. Or, "they didn't like the first results, so they did it again."

I understand your greater point about the reality show aspect of news and politics these days, but this is one of the times where I think this kind of thing makes sense.
