(44,228 posts)Remember that Hillary led Obama in AA support early in the 2008 Primary.

When Obama became viewed as a viable candidate, that support moved from Hillary to Obama.

(11,949 posts)If Harris starts breaking out you may well be correct. And I would be fine with that.
But if it is Warren or Sanders I think it is not a ceiling. Because Africa Americans will support Biden over either of them.
President Obama is, correctly, staying out of the fray till the primaries are settled. But he tied himself so closely to Biden it makes a difference. And Joe made it clear who was the boss and there was not a hint of the backbiting Presidents normally have with the vice.
One thing I am confident of. Once the candidate is apparent. Be it in March, April or May, President Obama will weigh in hard for that candidate. He will do all he can to prevent an obviously losing campaign to take the division into the convention.
I have said for over a year now that a Biden/Harris ticket is unbeatable. I believe that more than ever. That woman is as impressive as all get out.
Have a nice evening.

(3,696 posts)Biden was a loyal VP and friend to Obama. People who question whether it's fair for him to speak about his work and relationship with Obama need to get over it. He has ever right to talk about the 8 years he spent by Obama's side.

(11,949 posts)The most popular living President, is sucking on sour grapes.
If Joe wins the primaries and Obama pitches in, especially if Harris is on the ticket, we will win. She is pretty impressive. If Joe goes down she is my next choice.

(13,041 posts)Not to fellow Dems candidates, stick to ISSUES and present her IDEAS on how to generate jobs for americans, improve their lives, save the environment from catastrophic failure, improve obamacare, repair crumbling infrastructure, etc. Political expediency will only go so far. She is still wet behind the ears in national & foreign policy experience compared to Joe. She should know her place. If she keeps attacking Joe like that she w ruin her chances of VEEP pick.

(62,270 posts)This will not change this time around for Joe.
Reminder that the Democratic primaries are set up to give more proportional representation. The Fairness Commission was prompted by the 1984 primaries.
Hart and Jackson had more votes than Mondale but far fewer delegates. Jackson in particular had half as many votes but got a lot less representation in the delegates. It's also why the southern states get to go first in many ways, long term planning by the party to represent the underrepresented.
If it was proportional back then we might have had a Hart/Jackson ticket because they could've combined their delegates in a brokered convention.
Hart should've been elected, he would've won, and Jackson would've likely been the first black President, had we had proportional representation in our primaries back then.

Biden.
That may change.
But at this point there's no reason to believe any other candidate in the race will do better with black voters than Biden will.
