It comes down to 3 things for me.

Convincing chance of beating tRump.
Fastest, most effective plan to attack climate change.
Rooting out conflicts of interest in regulation and practice, to become a government of integrity, run in the people’s interest rather than by corrosive moneyed interests.

I am continuing to openly watch what happens as the months go by.
Anyone else in this camp?

That’s why I still support Inslee even though he hasn’t caught fire yet. That’s a major disappointment for me - that he hasn’t.

Grandparents in the detention camps are having their grandchildren taken away and put up for adoption.

Kids are deprived of soap, water, hugging siblings, beds, or any human decency or kindness.

We need a humane immigration policy to allow some to come here legally as both asylum seekers and ordinary immigrants seeking a better life.

We need a lot more judges hired quickly and attorneys to represent migrants especially children, and speed up the process so detention would be brief.

Most awaiting hearings should be released to go stay with family or friends. Only those deemed a potential risk (such as gang members or people with violent criminal records, not the "crime" of crossing the border) should be detained long term until a hearing.

We should also consider investing in any government that could be stabilized in central or south America to reduce the mass exodus and have serious talks with other countries about the possibility of some migrants being accepted elsewhere.

Any children detained, however briefly, should be given beds, soap, water, showers, toys, play time, schooling, and the right to be hugged by siblings and other relatives. There must be a set amount of space per person, no exceptions, with comfortable temperatures and not lights on all night too bright to sleep. Anyone abusing migrants should be fired and prosecuted.
