Democratic Primaries
Related: About this forumBiden is just so "hurtful"
The way he hugs people makes me uncomfortable and his big leering smile. Its also hurtful that he said it was okay to mock gay people. In fact he actually mocked a gay waiter five years ago plus he believes in segregation and worked with segregationists to keep schools separate and unequal. And I am black and when I was four my first real friend friend, Anna Campanella wasnt allowed to play with me after her dad got home from work cuz Im black ( that part is true). So you see he is very, very hurtful.

there will be a new round of spinning
and pouting.

(2,181 posts)He and my grandmother were very poor during the depression. My mother told me there was a black lady that knew how to help people if they had a minor medical problem. Like one of my uncles would not nurse when he was a baby and the lady came up with something that worked. My mother told me that my grandmother wanted the black lady to come in and eat with her but she would always refuse because back then that's the way it was.

(5,111 posts)How some people were, so I didnt take it personally. Anna would play together all day and then around 5 or 6 hem mom who was Italian and spoke no English would come and get her. It was time for dinner anyway so wasnt that big a deal. In the scheme of things it would not count as racism that I internalized but was my first lesson in racism. I think at the time we both just found it confusing. Anna was a little bit older than me and she explained that he dad didnt like coloredpeople. This was in Cleveland, Ohio in the mid 60s.

(92,404 posts)as a Jew, there were some very personal encounters I had with the neighborhood kids, and while eventually things did smooth over somewhat, it left a mark that carries through to this day.
That you remember the details so vividly, tells me you were impacted by what happened also
