Democratic Primaries
Related: About this forumIf Joe really believes that he can work with Mitch McConnell
Why wasn't he able to get McConnell to even allow hearings for Merrick Garland? As VP he was technically president of the Senate. As a former chairman of the Judiciary Comittee he would have been in the perfect position to challenge Mitch McConnell directly on his blatantly unconstitutional act of blocking even a hearing for Obama's Supreme Court nominee. All this talk about working with the other side is meaningless if you can't them to occassionally move to your side. This so-called bipartisanship has been pretty one sided.

(1,480 posts)I'd really like to know what Biden's actual plan is for the bringing over of Republicans to compromise.

(18,486 posts)This applies not just to Garland, but all of Obama's stalled nominees - judicial and otherwise. People like Cassandra Butts, who worked closely with Biden in the Obama White House and died waiting for Senate confirmation.

(9,291 posts)went over to congress after he won? Photos of him waving, that we get to know each other to work together? I thought either Obama doesn't understand what is really going on in the Republican Party, or he does and he just feeding his voters a line of B.S.
Still love Obama, but this working together crap hurt real people. Not rich people, real people.

(2,375 posts)Joe Biden said Thursday that gun manufacturers, not the National Rifle Association (NRA), are the Democratic Party's "enemy" in its efforts to reform gun control laws.

(29,279 posts)He also should NOT have been caught flat-footed when Harris came after him:
1) it was an easily foreseeable debate issue and he was unprepared (word is he waved away advice of staff to prepare for this issue, which is poor judgment)
2) how the hell will he be able to handle tRump and co. attacks/smears if he cant effectively parry friendly fire?
3) unlike folks who attack him on the basis of pure chronological age, his reaction suggested he is far from his cognitive best. This is a problem.
He has dropped down my list.
