Kamala Harris Sends Debate Crowd Roaring By Exposing The Myth Of Trump's Economy

From the article:

Kamala Harris sent the crowd roaring on Thursday night after she tore Donald Trump to shreds for bragging about an economy that isn’t working for the middle class.
Harris said Trump likes to brag about the low jobless rate, but the problem isn’t that people aren’t working. It’s that they’re working multiple jobs to make ends meet – and they still aren’t able to put food on the table.

The US corporate media plays an enormous role in propagating the myth of a robust economy.

The truth for the working class is that since the Reagan years, wages have been, at best, stagnant for workers. Yes, the stock market makes huge gains, and various economic bubbles have presented the illusion of a good economy, but the truth is that the economy is only good for the rich, and the upper middle class of professionals.

And while Bernie Sanders has been presenting this class based economic message for many years, he still fails to link class based, predatory capitalistic economics, with its racist foundation.

Race is the prime factor used by predatory capitalists to divide workers.

the "very serious people" know that much of an economy is mob psychology, and that the job of treasury secretaries and federal reserve chairmen is to keep that mob moving to stimulate the economy.

Yes, the economy is a shared belief. If confidence fails, the market crashes.

And the various bubbles are designed to give the illusion that the average worker is doing well.

a great little book is john Kenneth galbraith's "the great crash, 1929." a quick read and extremely informative in an age of "new deal denial."

After the New Deal, and when unionization was high, much of the working class became the middle class.

Not enough, and not non-white workers, or females, but wealth was far more equitably distributed. When the top 400 individuals have more wealth than the bottom 90% that economy is built on debt.

We should be tracking wealth distribution, not just total wealth and total jobs. We should count how many people work a full time job and still can't pay for basic necessities.

The problem long predates Obama but got worse after 2008. Obama prevented a much worse recession but could not solve the underlying wealth distribution problem (And before anyone goes there, I am not blaming Obama, he played the best hand he could with the cards he was dealt).

Even gross indicators such as GDP or the unemployment rate do not really capture what the mass of people experience.

The rich are so rich that even though the GDP rises, or the stock market gains, most of those gains accrue to the 1%.

It is predatory, unregulated capitalism at work.

All of the costs associated with a company paying an actual living wage are externalized onto the mass of taxpayers.
