Fmr DNC Chair Howard Dean Defends Party's Debate Decision: Fox News Is a 'Propaganda Outfit'

by Josh Feldman | Mar 9th, 2019, 10:49 am

Former DNC Chair Howard Dean said on CNN this morning he agrees with the party’s decision to bar Fox News from primary debates, calling the network a “propaganda outfit.”

CNN’s Michael Smerconish opened by saying, “Keeping the network’s anchors and viewers of questioning of the Democratic hopefuls seems destined to hurt the party and its candidates.” After some Howard Schultz talk, Smerconish asked Dean if he agrees with Tom Perez‘s decision. Dean said he does:

“Why not have a debate on Breitbart TV? You know, Fox is a propaganda organization, it’s not a news channel. I don’t think we’re obligated to have our debates on stations that are really not news channels. And that’s what Tom decided to do and I think that makes sense.”

Smerconish brought up the response from Fox News’ Chris Wallace arguing that Democrats should be reaching out to voters who watch Fox News, but Dean disagreed.

“I think Mike [sic] Wallace is a really good journalist and I have a lot of respect for him,” Dean said. “He just happens to work for a propaganda outfit instead of a news channel. Secondly, the people who watch Fox News are already cemented in… We’re not going to get to the hardcore people.”

This is a verified fact. They should no longer be treated as a news organization by any democrat.
