Journalism at work, folks.

Bernie Sanders: That is a mischaracterization of my stance.
Rachel Maddow: That is a quote from you.

7:36 pm - 27 Jun 2019

Rachel Maddow: A "newspaper recently released portions of an interview you gave ...'My own view on guns is, everything being equal, states should make those decisions.'"

Bernie Sanders: "That's a mischaracterization of my thinking."

Maddow: "It's a quote of you." #DemDebate2

Heh

I would not like to come up against the Maddows big brain if I was obfuscating

The quote, taken by itself, implies Bernie opposes federal gun control laws. But in that same interview, before and after that Quote, Bernie described various federal gun control laws he had voted for and he described areas where federal gun control laws were appropriate. The quote taken out of context implies that Bernie opposes federal gun control laws. In context it is clear he does support many federal gun control laws. I listened to the interview at reddit but can’t figure out how to create a link to it, sorry.

The implication behind Rachel's question was misleading, and the quote was taken out of context. It was an unfair "gotcha" attempt.

Rachel should be better than that.

primary today, I would vote for:
Joe Biden
