Cory Booker on Colbert

Rhiannon posted his appearance on Colbert here: https://www.democraticunderground.com/1017534642

I suspect the reason none of us have commented is that any discussion would be about the primaries, so I wanted to link to her post in this forum.

I'm currently leaning Inslee, but damn, this was a good interview. I love Inslee for his emphasis on climate change and for his track record as governor, but I know that our country also needs to be inspired again.

If I were to vote in a presidential
primary today, I would vote for:
Joe Biden

1. If I had to pick now, I'd pick Booker ... I ALWAYS love his interviews, he's friggin' sharp as tack

And I always agree w/what he has to say. Inslee's probably my 2nd choice at this point but I've only seen the Rachel interview, which he killed it at.

I'm surprised Booker's got so few supporters here. But we do have a wealth of good candidates to choose from.

With so many candidates, I hadn't paid much attention to him recently until that interview.

but I love Cory Booker... unfortunately, being a vegan will keep him from being elected President call me silly but I really believe that is an issue for a lot of people (and I say this as a vegetarian)

5. It may rub some people the wrong way, even though he doesn't proselytize.

People do tend to stereotype vegans as weird or other. I say this as someone who floats in and out of veganism!
It's a selling point for me, though. He's better at walking his walk than I am at walking mine.

6. I am starting to lean towards Cory Booker, now that I don't think I can support Jay Inslee.

I am struggling with this. I had been hoping to support Jay Inslee for president all the way back in 2017. In most respects, he is everything I am looking for in a candidate.

But he signed a bill on surrogacy that I passionately disagree with. I fear that women will be exploited for their wombs and have no protection from coercion and deceit. I don't want the U.S. to become a country like India or Thailand in that regards.

primary today, I would vote for:
Joe Biden
