Democratic Primaries

IOWA CITY They dragged their friends to see Bernie Sanders in Iowa. In South Carolina, their unrelenting selfie requests made Cory Booker late. And in New Hampshire, so many showed up at a church for an event with Kamala Harris that an overflow crowd had to stand outside in the snow.
Im super overwhelmed by the number of Democratic candidates that have already come out, Regan Johnson, a 28-year-old from Omaha, said on Thursday in Council Bluffs, Iowa, where Mr. Sanders appeared at the first of three rallies in the state. Hopefully the excitement continues and were able to get a good, viable candidate that can beat Trump.
As the already large presidential field grows by the week, the enthusiasm that propelled Democrats to a decisive takeover of the House in the midterms is still surging, driving crowd sizes and intensity typically seen in the days before the first caucuses and primaries, not a year ahead of them. Powered by an almost desperate yearning to oust President Trump, and galvanized by the most diverse field in presidential primary history, Democrats are packing into gymnasiums, churches and exhibition halls to hear candidates speak even if they are far from committed to supporting the candidate they are showing up to see.
The populist message many of the candidates have on offer is resonating: From Northern California to Council Bluffs to the Brooklyn streets where Mr. Sanders was raised, voters are delighting in the calls to spurn big donors, the policies to fight wealth inequality and the promises of relief from college debt and steep medical bills.

(731 posts)Too many good liberal Democrats running for us to go down dark paths.
Leave the populist road to the Trumpists.

(22,133 posts)address steep medical bills that families may incur as a result of accident or illness. If anything, they have constantly been on the side of the 1%ers, and not ours. They have tried to restrict or take our voting rights away due to some nefarious reason which they can't back up. They scream bloody murder about mysterious crimes and rapes on the border between Mexico and the US, yet can't not back these claims up. They say they are for everyday Americans, but yet most of us are yet to realize any benefits from their tax cut bill of 2017, if anything, most of us are ending up paying MORE in taxes.
I am tired of hearing them scream and yell about their rights to scream out bigoted and racist mutterings are being taken away (in FL, there is an actual senator trying to put in language to preserve their so called rights to spew out hate). I'm tired of them seeming to take the side of thugs, and tired of seeing them elbow protesters in the face at their rallies. I'm tired of them yelling that we aren't American enough for them, when in fact, it is we who are more American, we as the Democratic party, accept all as who and what we are, 100%.
IMHO, the paragraph below (was in the opening post) after my concluding paragraph says it best...I am not going to bitch and moan about my candidate this or that, nor am I going to gripe about what a representative of ours may or may not say. After all, the other side has the likes of steven king, rump, and other ignorant notables. What else do I need to say?
What I am going to bitch and moan about is the continued disrespect and gutter mouth utterings that our so called president keeping saying or tweeting. I'm sick of his mouth. I'm sick of him. I am sick of those in Congress who enable him. I am sick of his lack of accomplishments. I am sick and tired of him claiming credit for literally putting the moon in orbit around the earth. It's pathetic and getting old.
I for one, am happy and gleeful that the election cycle of 2020 is here for I and a lot of my friends want to kick our so called president out of office so he can go home and take some more 'executive time', since he doesn't seem to have enough already. We want to replace rump with someone who will actually work for all of us, and who doesn't take or need a lot of 'executive time'.

(26,624 posts)But you summed it up nicely. I think most Americans are yearning for intelligence and honesty and were turning out in big numbers to hear and embrace those qualities, even if we have some disagreements with the candidates. Ill attend as many rallies as I can for every Democratic candidate.. I want to hear from all of them.
