Democratic Primaries

Never Biden/Sanders.. or Biden/Warren... or visa versa...
Because Biden deserves a retirement.. and I am hoping for at least a 12 year run at the executive.. sort of a mini Roosevelt era.. to clean this mess up Trump has made.
If Warren gets the nod.. I would hope she would pick a much younger running mate.. She is 70 and we need to start rebuilding our party elders, with some not so elderly..
We have as diverse a grouping of candidates as I have ever seen run.. there is no need for 2 old white guys.. or 2 young white guys. don't get me wrong, I love liberal white guys.. been married to one for 47 years.. but with such a rich grouping of people to pick from .. I want a hammer at the glass ceiling.. I hope...

(41,832 posts)Stacey Abrams would be a knockout pick. I think she would generate a lot of enthusiasm.

(74 posts)What would she bring to the ticket? I like her, but shouldn't she win something bigger first? I have the same complaint with Buttigieg, Yang, and to a lesser extent Moulton, Swalwell, O'Rourke, and Ryan. It's nothing personal; I'm a big fan of experience.

(43,458 posts)his A-A support is baked into the cake and goes with Klobuchar.
Or the true double-double down and he goes white male (say Bullock (who along with Abrams are my two biggest disappointments in terms of Senate refusals to run) or even Jay Inslee or Bennet or Buttigieg (Pete unfortunately would be a huge risk with A-A support). Tim Ryan imploded with his advocacy for forever-wars last night, and Hickenlooper is too pro-fracking and has red-baited (even brought up Marx and Stalin in terms of the GND and M4A, etc which is madness) so he would make Warren/Sanders and other progressive people go bonkers, IMHO. Sherrod Brown would be in the mix, but pulling him fucks us bad in the Senate, and we NEED the Senate.
Absolute wild card play (and a true hat-tip to Obama, as Obama wanted him to run for years) would be to pick Deval Patrick.
Also a pure wild card would be to pick a 4 star military ex officer, say William H. McRaven (as long as his cancer stays completely in remission)ex Seal, ex 4 star Admiral, ex-commanding officer of all U.S. special-operations and the leader of the bin Laden capture/kill op. McRaven would be perfect for a Harris-topped ticket too.

(8,144 posts)opportunity to grow and rise. Whereas my daughter, middle aged herself, believes hope lies in the
AOC agenda and her style, I dont.
I think for now and into the next decade, Castro, Booker, Harris, Beto (needs speech coach), Buttigieg and quite a few others could take the torch.
I would also like us to pay more attention to the Asian and Pacific Islander vote and representation of it.

(22,877 posts)We have this wonderful resource in Pelosi, Biden, etc etc.. I am not adding Sanders to it because he is not a Democrat.. So I am just looking at our party faithful..we would be foolish to throw all that talent away.. but we do have to get the others out there and ready to take the reigns.. it is interesting to me, how quickly the time flies.. and how quickly people like Beto, Buttigieg, Harris Booker who seem so on the precipice .. will be the old dogs trying to keep the party together before we know it..

(22,877 posts)have this love of the Heartland politicians.. I think De Blasio might have some good things to say.. if he would just slow down enough so I could understand him ROFL!.. I swear, that some of the people I know who voted for Trump... did not have a clue what the man said.. he just runs one word into another .. and says the opposite things in the same sentence.. just vote R or something new.. not fully realizing what the heck they got

(74 posts)Oh and y'all gotta boot Joni Ernst. She is terrible. But I love your US Reps: Cindy, Abby, and Dave! We've got to flip it blue again. I think Biden can do it. Klobuchar, Hick, Tim Ryan, Bullock, maybe a couple others too.
I've lived in the Midwest most of my life, except for a few years in Colorado and Wyoming. That's why I adore Democrats from red and purple states. They're genuine, and they're REALLY tough.
Trump (a three-time married, four-time bankrupted, adulterous, corrupt, loudmouth New Yorker) winning rural Americans, small town Americans, farmers, some union members, and blue collar workers will baffle historians for centuries.
