(9,865 posts).....the actual answer kind of melted away. Didn't it just have to do with having a Democrat win his seat? That's more of a hope than a plan.
I thought she was going to explain how to overcome his policies, no matter what happens with his seat. But it was just---"We need more Democrats!" Which was the plan of everyone on stage.
Did you hear more than that?

(15,535 posts)and demand Mitch do his job. The question posed was what to do about Mitch if he is re-elected and the Repubs keep the Senate - so what I heard her say was we have to fight.

(9,865 posts)...not a "plan", as I understand plan.
I wish she'd said something like we are going to send a panel of folks to Mitch's home state and hold informational evenings every week to explain how much his policies are hurting people in his state. And they'd have a chance to sign up for various push back petitions or calls to make to his office or demos at his office. You know---have a concrete on-the-ground plan for fighting him.
Steps for how people fight. Something like that.

(12,344 posts)sounds a lot more threatening. I think there's a lot of things a President can do to pressure Senators that we never hear about. Obama was too nice about it and Trump too stupid.

Love Liz, but Democrats are stuck being the only one protecting Democracy in America. We are stuck fighting with one hand behind our back because that's how democracy survives
In think she gets this but too many Democratic voters don't these days. That's the threat of populism

Trump is an authoritarian populist, which is a threat to democracy and disadvantaged groups. Warren is an economic populist, which is a threat to the wealthy.
Some people in 2016 preferred both Sanders and Trump to Clinton. Whether they were considered right or left, they are probably economic populists who would vote for Warren this time.
