...Finance pros who have tangled with Elizabeth Warren have a warning for her debate rivals

The Finance 202: Finance pros who have tangled with Elizabeth Warren have a warning for her debate rivals

By Tory Newmyer
June 26 at 7:33 AM

A group of Democratic presidential hopefuls — mostly polling in the low single digits— will take the stage tonight with rising first-tier contender Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) for the first debate of the 2020 campaign. But financial industry pros who have tangled with Warren -- a Wall Street scourge -- have a warning for her rivals hoping for a breakout moment: Attack Warren at your own peril.

Warren, they say from watching her closely over the years, is a force: While her presidential bid has focused on policy proposals -- and she has cultivated an image as an approachable everywoman -- she has for years been a ruthless prosecutor of regulators and finance industry executives when they’ve appeared for testimony before the Senate Banking Committee.

“From the very beginning, she demonstrated a certitude and a prosecutorial style that for the most part doesn’t give anybody a chance to respond: She has strong opinions and she delivers them in a forceful way,” says Charles Gabriel, president of Capital Alpha Partners, a Washington-based investment research firm. “She’s been a force in politics. She strikes fear” into financiers.

Investors demonstrated that fear on Friday, when stocks of some private prison companies dropped by 5 percent after Warren called for a ban on the facilities.

Having money doesn't make one invincible. Everyone needs a little fear in their life just so they don't do something stupid and reckless.

The last sentence about private prison companies losing stock value is a gigantic event.

Sadly, I don't think she can win. I also feel the Dems should all get behind the person is most probable to be elected, and be constantly boosting him or her instead of tearing each other down until the last minute. You are spending money that could be better spent and will destroy all the other candidates, doing the Republicans work for them. In the mean time, the Repubs will be spending all their ill gotten money on Senate and House and Governor campaigns.

As you wander down the jungle path swatting at the mosquitoes, you will totally miss the herd of charging elephants.
Sorry for the elephant pun.........

Warren is brilliant and she knows the facts and their impact on the middle class. She’s not afraid to speak up with the truth.

so quickly. From all that I have seen and heard she is incredible when it comes to finance and especially how the system affects personal finance and people's lives.

I suspect if she ends up on the stage with Dandy Donny, she will just destroy whatever lies he is pumping out that day.
As a matter of fact, if she is the nominee I will predict he will not debate or have any joint appearance with her, he is that afraid of her.

As if she ought to be more quiet, less formidable, more deferring.

I wonder if they would be so amazed about the forcefulness in a man.
