All to score points and jockey for position. Particularly so when we have a self-proclaimed racist squatting in the White House. Insisting this falls under the guise of 'vetting' is equally pathetic. Smearing and vetting are not the same.

an act of ignorance, but intentional. Joe’s intent could not have been more obvious.

Joe’s full throated support for civil rights for all has been a part of his political profile for decades.

That he is not the standard bearer for a more left-leaning Democratic party, does not endorse a raft of social programs progressives propose, makes him, as a frontrunning moderate, an obstacle
to be overcome on the path to transforming the democratic political landscape.

I hope Joe does not start playing defense for sins he has not committed. To do so will only
confirm these willful misinterpretations and outright lies (he mocked sexual abuse; he gropes little girls; he and Obama never engaged in bi-partisan legislation; he doesn’t stand up against racism).

No other candidate made the fight against white supremacy his theme right out of the gate.

27. Bidens problem
Thu Jun 20, 2019, 04:06 PM
Jun 2019

Biden’s problem Is that he is saying he can “work with these types of Republican when our party leaders should be saying “we need to vote these kind of people out of office forever.”
This “why can’t we just get along with the Republicans” kind of attitude after the Republicans stole a Supreme Court seat, not to mention their 100% obstructionist tendencies through his term as VP should have put him in a place to be able to say that.
I don’t wanna work with Republicans anymore, I want to destroy them politically and electorally for the next 25 years

Trump although they don’t dare as overtly present their racism and heartlessness to the public. They do that through draconian and anti-democratic policies and their inaction and silence on any issues that might help Americans, on social justice, civil rights, economic equality, health care, immigration reform...
My point is simply that they are a dying party, kept alive by a cult figure who has recruited
fresh and poisoned blood.
But we are always going to have an adversarial system of governing. That, opposing views and mind-sets will offer challenges well in to the future.

important issues to challenge Biden on. But the main thing is that Trump must be defeated in 2020. We will not be able to do this repeating the mistakes of the past or staying united on every front.

Many young black and other voters stayed home in 2016 over the fake scandal about HRC and the Crime Bill and the "predator" remarks. We are about to repeat the mistakes of the past and allow others to sway our efforts because the primary candidate of our choice did not win. We absolutely cannot afford to do this again.

It's not about being a "racist". It's about not understanding how racism works. It's about lacking the self-examination of what white privilege means, day to day.

"Boy" is a freighted word. Do you have any idea what Eastman called Black people? It's too vile to quote on DU. This hurtful, harmful person is Joe's example of "civility"? Civil to whom?

Joe is not a deep down classic racist like Strom Thurmond, whose segregation policies he supported---it's about being tone deaf in a way that actually harms progress. He does racist things and doesn't even know it---all the while supporting civil rights. It's just not good enough.

And let's not get started on Anita Hill. Next thing you'll be saying we're saying "Joe hates women". No. But Joe doesn't get it and is part of the problem. He's got White Male Privilege Syndrome---a very dangerous condition.

I'm sure you're big enough to see the difference.
