Please read the replies there, some of which are from Democrats, not just other Republicans or former Republicans like Conway who hate Trump and are hoping desperately that Democrats can beat him in 2020.
And then there's this tweet from Tom Nichols yesterday, another NeverTrumper who's hoping the Democrats win in 2020:

(3,492 posts)With this absolute nonsense going on. We have a bonafide, real deal racist as the FUCKING PRESIDENT RIGHT NOW who is pushing a white supremacist agenda and were ticky tacking our own people as racists who clearly, CLEARLY are not. Just to try and score ultimately meaningless political points in a primary.
Its madness.
Why not ask Legitimate President Obama if he thinks Joe Biden is in any way, shape or form a racist.

(10,832 posts)2020 will determine who and what we are as a country, as a people. We have a madman at the helm who (as you said) is a bona fide racist but we're spending time throwing smears at Biden for positioning purposes and points. I guarantee you that this will come back and haunt whoever our nominee is because it's all free ammunition to the Trumpsters who have proven they will do anything and everything to win.

(4,407 posts)Is just a political joke. If he believed anything he said, he would not stay married to someone who is helping to destroy this country. It's way past leaving work at work when the job is separating families, caging children and committing treason among so many other inexcusable things. I suspect it is all cynical attention grabbing and the whole Conway family can go fuck themselves.

(6,699 posts)Say what you like about Connors and his evil green bride, but he is hitting the nail on the head. WHEN are we going to learn! Do you sincerely think Biden was saying he would be eager to cozy up to racists for a cocktail after work? His statement was a bit foolish, but he was trying to make the point that "as President" he could work with the devil himself to get things done for the American people.
Sweet Jesus people....keep your focus on the prize. I'm not nuts about this woman that was on the View recently either, and I don't even recall her name; but ANYTHING is better than this jackass who is ruining our country one brick at a time, and we have some EXCELLENT potential candidates in the mix...Joe being one of them. So, if his manners of touching people he is with is too much for you to handle in "today's world"....it's how several people react when communicating with others. Did he grab their asses? Did he lay his hand on their breast for a good squeeze! Get serious. Yes....we ARE a circular firing squad, and those of you who pick these candidates apart are either tools for the right, or just too damn dumb to see the big picture.

(7,681 posts)Same George Conway who represented Paula Jones in her lawsuit against Bill Clinton? Same George Conway who was one of the "elves" along with Ann Coulter?
--
In the 1990s, George was a quiet but critical presence in what Hillary Clinton would dub a vast right-wing conspiracy a hotshot young attorney working to undermine President Bill Clinton by offering secret legal aid to his accusers and reportedly funneling salacious details to the Drudge Report.
His unpaid work research, legal briefs and organizing moot courts for the team to practice their arguments had him working alongside fellow GOP lawyers Ann Coulter, the future arch-conservative pundit, and Jerome Marcus, a veteran of Ronald Reagans State Department. Coulter offered a nickname for their clique of off-the-books workers: the Elves. And they had a mischievous side. When it appeared as though Bill Clinton and Jones might settle out of court, Conway and Coulter were determined to prevent that. It was contrary to our purpose of bringing down the president, she later told the journalist Michael Isikoff, as reported in his book Uncovering Clinton.
So to keep the story alive, they started leaking.
---
Throughout the 1990s, George stayed on the case, but he remained under the radar. He helped set up Lewinsky confidante Linda Tripp with a lawyer when she decided to bring her information forward, according to a New York Times report in 1999. When Tripps pal Lucianne Goldberg, a literary agent and conservative gadfly, wanted that story to go public, she says Conway helped get her bombshell to Drudge. He denies these accounts.

(1,865 posts)Every primary season this place seems to lose it's mind. We have an outstanding slate of candidates - any damn one of who would be preferable to four more batshit years of Trump. I get that we each want our guy/gal to win but can we at least agree that come November 4, 2020, it has to be someone other than T45?

(2,191 posts)It's very early days, still. Shouldn't we try to cut off problems before they become disasters later in the campaign?
WaPo says that Biden ignored advice from his own campaign to stop talking about the segregationalists. https://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/2019/06/20/this-is-bidens-real-problem/?noredirect=on&utm_term=.4a63075be58f
If other Democratic candidates don't say anything, that fuels GOP cries of "The party supports this thinking."
I agree that Democrats have a terrible history of doing damage to each other. I disagree with Booker's call for an apology. I think it's tricky to say that no other candidates should speak up, though.
I anticipate that Biden will be our candidate, and of course I'll vote for him. But he's already taken several steps along a path that makes it look like he thinks his lifelong opinions are going to get him elected. It's not fair, but these are our circumstances: the GOP can say whatever it wants, but the public in general expects something else from Democrats.

(45,457 posts)and those types of folks in the South changed to Republican over the Democratic party's support of the civil rights movement.
Would that party schism count as a circular firing squad? Republicans love telling us that Democrats were the party of slavery and segregation.
Actual Nazis and KKK leaders have run for office as Republicans recently, and hate groups have endorsed Trump. Maybe moderate Republicans can boast of working with such people? Maybe folks can work proudly with white nationalist Steve King of Iowa since he has limited legislative influence these days.
