Democratic Primaries
Related: About this forumDid the "I Side With" candidate selector ahead of the debates. Here are my results:
https://www.isidewith.com/Will check political compass soon
Warren 91%. Surprised I didn't match even higher. She's my first choice.
Sanders 91%. No surprise here. He was my guy last time around.
Harris 91% My second choice. No Surprise.
Gillibrand 89% Hmmmm. Very low on my list because of Franken
Castro 88% Haven't given him much thought yet.
Gabbard 88% No. Just no.
O'Rourke 88% Maybe? Don't know him very well.
Buttigieg 88% Tied w/ Bernie in my list.
Klobuchar 84% She's ok. Don't love her, but don't hate her either.
Yang 84% Don't know him very well.
Booker 81%. Seems like a few times I heard him on TV and felt like we were pretty far apart on some things.
Williamson 81% Know nothing about her.
Biden 75% Surprised we matched this well. Not really a fan. I will support him if I have to, but.. well, I've been through bankruptcy and it's looming over our family again.
Delaney 56% No idea who this is.
Many missing candidates. Would have liked to have seen Inslee's and Swallwell's results.

(72,378 posts)their election results one, but I always take these things with a grain of salt. Still, with the candidate field being as crowded as it is, it would be nice if one of these matching sites really worked!

(3,256 posts)and even if you pose as a conservative, you end up matching a highly progressive candidate.
I think it was a gimmick of the Bernie campaign and it seems to have been resurrected for 2020.
primary today, I would vote for: Joe Biden

(37,648 posts)Curiously, I top-matched at 92% for three very different candidates: Klobuchar, Warren, and Beto.
Bernie & most others were at 90% and below. Biden was 84%.
I even matched a couple of answers with Kasich and some guys I don't know who they are.
I think it has to do with which answers you gave the most importance to. And who you said you'd vote for, if you voted today.

Sanders 96%
Gabbard 96%
So far, I'm with Warren or Sanders. Castro would have to make a tremendous showing in the debates to unseat Liz and Bernie, for me.
Gabbard? I read today that she said the Mueller report says "no collusion." I can't figure her out. One moment she's a progressive, the next she seems like a republican or maybe even an anarchist.

(16,396 posts)And thats even before we get to her warm feelings for Assad. Shes a terrible candidate who with any luck will be primaried next year by an authentic progressive Democrat.
But hey as long as she doesnt walk the party line anything goes with some folks I guess.
Btw welcome back to DU.

(72,378 posts)all things are equal in this equation. While I am unhappy that the others also went in that direction, I felt that Gillibrand was pushing hardest. I also have other reasons why I don't care for her, which when added to the Franken thing, dropped her down further on my list. The others currently have fewer dings against them in my book, so they are higher.
How about you? How is your list shaping up, and do you think the debates will rearrange it?

(45,451 posts)all great candidates, but not sure I like the questions in the quiz. I especially don't agree with the foreigners voting question, because it doesn't mention citizenship. I want US citizens voting, but many racists don't make the distinction between US citizen minorities
vs noncitizens. Anyone who gets a nice tan at the beach this summer is considered a foreigner.

Hmmm, a little off from what I really think, and I wont let a survey like this affect my opinion much.
Questions seem to have a 2016 vibe to them, perhaps because we haven't really 'fixed' anything since then.
Interesting, I guess.
