(21,639 posts)But merely pointing out that the media seems to be deliberately underestimating Bernie.
In any case, it's almost a foregone conclusion that Biden will be the 2020 nominee - although Liz Warren (and yes, Bernie) can still make this a real contest.

(43,408 posts)Rambling, stuttering, lost trains of thought, and topped it off with a bout of finger waving and somewhat getting up in the mediators (two women (Joy Reid was one of them) and an A-A man) faces.
If he brings that level of game to the debates and major events he will possibly be in trouble.

(37,648 posts)No one...not only single person that I've heard or read....has EVER said or implied that BS isn't smart. Or Klobuchar isn't smart. Or Warren isn't smart.
Someone needs to tell BS supporters that not everything is about Bernie Sanders. Sometimes an article talking about how smart two people are, is just an article talking about how smart two people are, and nothing more.
Just because Bernie isn't mentioned in the article, does not make the article about HIM.

(32,710 posts)He hasn't put much thought or study into the implementation of his ideas like Warren & Buttigieg have. Also, the videos of him when he was in his 40s aren't impressive either.
Sanders has brought up important issues, and I thank him for that, but that's not enough to be president. I have great ideas and I'm not fit to be president. I have very high standards for who should be leading our nation and representing me and my interests.
Sorry to be so harsh, but Zogby is wondering why, and that's why. I'm originally from Brooklyn, NY, by the way. And I didn't attend an Ivy League college.

(2,472 posts)I've noticed several times when Bernie didn't have ready answers to what should be obvious questions, such as minimum wage, abortion, and civil rights.
I suppose the media would react to that. But they don't call him on that specific "sin". Or I haven't heard them point that out.
And I haven't heard them specifically question his intelligence.
Instead I hear and read that Bernie is not in touch with an issue or group. At best these are claims that Sanders lacks political acumen, At worst they frame it as Bernie not caring about that issue or group.
I don't think the media is giving a fair shake to Bernie. But then again I don't think the media is giving a fair shake to any democrat. As evidence I present the all day coverage of Trumps rally tonight and contrast that to the fact that few if any democrats have had their speeches covered start to finish, except on Cspan

Warren and Mayor Pete are actually academics. They have that reputation for a reason. I don't think anybody has actually accused Bernie of being stupid, buthe isn't a Rhodes Scholar and that's okay.

This attitude certainly will not redeem him for me. BOTH Warren and Buttigieg are far superior to Zogby's chosen one in every way, not simply intellect, IMO.

2. They've both earned the kudos they're being given
3. Smell of panic in the air
4. Neither has a divisive/insulting campaign staff
5. Why would being born in Brooklyn be considered a negative except by those who are looking for an excuse for a candidate's failing numbers
6. Maybe most people simply aren't captivated or want to vote for him else he would've won last time around
7. And maybe people don't want an old white guy who plays fast and loose with his transparency and is always pointing that finger of his at everyone else but never at himself .
