Liberals go after Joe Biden

Liberals go after Joe Biden, trying to blunt his presidential candidacy and the recent centrist surge in the Democratic Party

The liberal wing of the Democratic Party launched a sudden volley of attacks against presidential candidate Joe Biden and his allies over the weekend, showing a new urgency to wrest control of the party from moderate forces that had seized an advantage in recent months.

Some of the most scathing, if veiled, admonitions came Sunday from Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.), who repeatedly condemned “middle ground” policy ideas ... “We cannot go back to the old ways,” Sanders warned ... “We have got to go forward with a new and progressive agenda.”

Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) delivered a fierce rebuke of Biden’s professed faith that Republicans will be more cooperative once President Trump is out of office. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi faced shouts from the audience in her hometown demanding that she and other Democratic leaders move to impeach Trump.

The broadsides amounted to the loudest warning yet from the party’s left flank that it intends to aggressively challenge the centrist ideas and cautious politics that have gained a foothold eight months before presidential balloting begins with the Iowa caucuses. After signs of promise earlier this year, when Sanders topped the polls and Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) quickly asserted her influence on Capitol Hill, the liberal movement has stagnated.

Biden, a more traditional Democrat who has rejected Sanders’s brand of socialism and calls for dramatic change, has built a persistent and comfortable lead in the polls.

Centrist Democrats won a vast majority of the 40 seats that were flipped, yet one or two twitter users get all the publicity.

Joe Biden is a liberal as was Hillary Clinton as am I. This isn't liberals. This is the Far Left Channel and Republicans (the usual suspects) who desperately want to push Joe Biden from his comfortable lead.

These people are hell-bent on losing 2020 for the Democratic Party. We should not forget that.

Sanders knows: The large mainstream of the party is the liberal wing. He's spent his life despising and going along with it to get along (voting 96% with those he calls corrupt).

We have a smallish conservative wing on the right and a smallish dissident wing on the left. Call those for what they are. They're ranges and mixes of course. Some on dissident left are still mostly to somewhat liberal; it's hard to predict just where liberal traits are overwhelmed by the intolerance, irrational righteousness, aggressive hostility, and delusion that characterize increasing extremism.

BUT, liberals tend to be workably agreeable, cooperative, understanding, and respectful of those holding other views -- how ELSE are we able to maintain this vastly diverse big tent of different peoples and passions?

While the whole purpose of being LW radicals, zealots, dissidents is to oppose this giant alliance that is the liberal mainstream. Of course they oppose Biden. Even if their natures didn't require it, not to oppose would cancel their reason for existence.
