Moulton on Iraqi boy: 'I'll remember his face until the day that I die'

Washington (CNN)It was a moment from the early days of the US invasion of Iraq that 2020 Democratic presidential candidate Seth Moulton says still haunts him.

Moulton, who served four tours with the Marines in Iraq, opened up about his own experience with post-traumatic stress, revealing how he still thinks about a painful decision to leave a wounded Iraqi boy behind. He also highlighted his policy proposals to help millions of veterans and Americans with mental health in an interview with Jake Tapper on CNN's "State of the Union" that aired Sunday.
"The Marines just a few hundred yards ahead of us shot up some cars and buses that they thought were full of enemy troops. But at least one car was an Iraqi family, just fleeing the violence," the Massachusetts Democrat told CNN. "There is a boy, probably about five years old, lying in the middle of the road, wounded and writhing in pain."

Rarely does a political candidate bring tears to my eyes. This did. Thanks Seth.

on bullshit. How horrible for him but he is distraught for the innocence of the boy and not himself. I applaud what he wants to fight for those traumatized.

...war is horrible. Seth is very impressive. I have to admit I'm enjoying this primary more than any in my life. Because we have the best candidates ever!

in complete denial. What he wants to do to help others is the right thing, it should have been done long ago.

No way. Plus his push against Pelosi has people here in his district looking to primary him. He’s my rep and I will never vote for him again, a real back bencher saying he didn’t care what happened with the vote for speaker, he would not vote for Pelosi. Guess he was fine with Kevin McCarthy winning.

Thanks for posting this.

I had been weighing the idea of switching my preference to Mayor Pete, and now I'll be adding Moulton to those considerations.
