Beto O'Rourke heading to Oklahoma to tour flood damage

Go everywhere. Take no one for granted. Leave no one out. This is what leadership looks like.

TULSA, Okla. — Democratic presidential candidate Beto O’Rourke is heading to northeast Oklahoma to tour communities hit with historic flooding.

The former Texas congressman spoke at the Democratic state convention in California on Saturday and had been scheduled to fly home to El Paso, but decided he wanted to see first-hand the damage along the Arkansas River near Tulsa.

When his staff said they’d schedule something soon, O’Rourke responded that he’d like to go immediately. His campaign then scrambled to change flights.

He is going there to learn from the local people about what is exactly happening, what they want to see happen, hear their ideas and then he will incorporate what he learns to his plan, just like he did with Iowa.

Climate Change must be addressed. But that's a long term solution. What is he going to do for the currently suffering people in the flood area? A bunch of politicians and press looking at a broken levee can only get in the way. How about bringing in supplies for the displaced?

He may not be able to do much besides offering a shoulder to lean on or a hug, but knowing someone cares can mean a lot to those affected.

My client lives in Dallas now but his former neighbor just called to tell him that his old house is flooded. Some levies broke and there is widespread flooding
