Gun control as a campaign issue. This is in regards to the latest mass shooting.

As far as I can tell, nothing proposed would have prevented the shooting in Virginia Beach. The guy bought the two .45-caliber hand guns legally. One is 2016 and the other in 2018.

While there is much discussion on controlling so called assault weapons, any change in the current gun policy that might have had a chance on stopping the latest shooting is off the table.

3. Well, he did use hi-cap magazines, and maybe we make it too easy to have/carry pistols.

Why is it that strong gun proponents -- usually gun toters -- start these kind of threads after tragic shootings?

Or, an attempt to show that guns are not a problem?

5. Like I told you before, I'm fine with the outright banning of semi-autos.

Edit: If semi-autos are kept, I'm okay with a restriction on how many rounds the magazine can hold.

I'm okay with the banning of so-called assault weapons.

I'm okay with requiring a permit just to buy ammo.

6. Then, post about that, rather than another attempt to thwart gun legislation that might help

somewhere down the road -- ban high cap mags, semi-auto pistols, and when the time is right, ban toting completely. 90+% of the population goes about their daily lives without obsessing about guns and strapping one, or two, to their bodies.

"11 innocent lives cut down. 11 more futures denied. When will we finally say enough is enough? It’s long past time to hold our leaders accountable. Jill and I are heartbroken that more American families are suffering tonight in Virginia Beach."

Bernie Sanders
?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw

"Jane and I are grieving for the victims in Virginia Beach and their families," Sanders said. "The days of the NRA controlling Congress and writing our gun laws must end. Congress must listen to the American people and pass gun safety legislation. This sickening gun violence must stop."

Elizabeth Warren
?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw

"I’m heartsick and praying for the victims and their loved ones. Eleven people should not have been murdered today. How many lives will it take before Congress acts to end this crisis?"

Kamala Harris
?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw

"Heartbroken for the victims and their families of the Virginia Beach shooting and grateful for the first responders on the scene. This senseless act of violence should not be normal. Too many communities have been shattered by gun violence — we cannot continue to stand idly by. "

Pete Buttigieg

"Another horrific shooting shocks the nation, this time in Virginia Beach. We grieve with those impacted even as we await more information. Already, this much is clear: it is unacceptable for America to remain the only developed country where this is routine. We must act."

Amy Klobuchar

"My thoughts are with the Virginia Beach wounded & the families of those who lost loved ones today. We can’t become numb to these tragedies. We must pass gun safety legislation. The vast majority of Americans agree. We just need to get people in Washington who will represent them."

Beto O'Rourke

"Thinking of the Virginia Beach community, the families forever changed, the lives cut short by gun violence and the inaction in this country to prevent it. I want to work with you to meet this crisis with the urgency it demands and finally end this epidemic."

Cory Booker

"1 people dead. My heart breaks for those killed in another senseless act of gun violence & the loved ones of the victims whose lives are now shattered. We have the power to stop this—we can & will pass commonsense gun safety laws to end these tragedies."

Andrew Yang

"As President I would attack this problem from all angles. Mental health. Gun buybacks. Background checks. Free upgrades to signature guns. And a push to bring law-abiding gun owners to the table to say enough is enough and we can do more to protect ourselves from gun violence."

Julián Castro

"Heartbreaking news out of Virginia Beach as another community copes with a senseless gun violence attack. We can and must pass common sense reforms to end the gun violence epidemic—and ensure no community has to endure the pain that the Virginia Beach community feels today."

Andrew Yang mentioned specifics on gun control.
