There are two governors in the Democratic race for president

John Hickenlooper and Jay Inslee. That fact alone probably gives them an above average chance at winning. Of course this didn't help Bill Richardson in 2008. But it sure doesn't hurt.

In the Iowa caucus. I thought Obama had too little experience.

3. I don't know why it would give him an above average chance of winning.

I don't have any problem with him and would happily vote for him if he wins the primary. That being said, he doesn't have the name recognition or star power that heavy hitters like Biden, Bernie and Harris have. Even candidates who have an uphill battle like Warren, Beto, Klobuchar and Booker probably have better shots than him just because of name recognition and fundraising ability.

and come in with a promise of change. Obama broke the trend, in part because he wasn't.in Washington very long. Harris also hasn't been there very long, and Sanders is arguably a professional outsider, so it.might not work the same way this time.

Prior to Obama, the clear majority of prior presidents have been either former governors or vice presidents (or both). Those two roles simply have the most relevant resume/ executive experience.

11. 17 presidents had been governors at some point. 16 had been senators at some point.

12. Bullock would make 3, and I'd bet against all 3. With Inslee having the best chance.
